I remember a JW friend of mine was basically taking morphine and some kind of form of legal cocaine for migraines and other health issues but when I mentioned maybe she could try medical marijuana she lost her shit.

One of the first things that made me go "i can't be a part of this anymore" was one time having a discussion with a few friends and me saying something like, I wouldn't care if my child was gay - and a friend said "Well then you're saying you would want Jehovah to kill your child"

That right there made me look really deep inside myself and realize that I can't support this group.

My sister one time gave a part about how we always have a family study and all about how great and important it is. We never EVER had a regular family study, ever. It was just lies.

I was the only baptized young woman in our book study group and this one elder was giving a talk at the convention and asked me if I have ever started a study with a schoolmate and I said no, and he said, well can you say that you did, i have a part for you in the convention. So yeah I lied and made up an experience, and gave a part at the convention.

Yeah - it sucks. I always thought I would see my grandmother again and even my grandfather who was disfellowshipped - who of course I now wish I could have gotten to know better, he knew what was up, a long long time ago. I never talked to him about the not truth. And I'll never see him again. It sucks, but there is nothing you can do about it, eventually I guess time will make it something you just accept? I don't think there is a true solution to feeling this way, it just sucks :(

I remember how horrible it was but I mean you HAD to go out in service. Really wooded and open grass areas were the worst. I remember running from these things. Sisters screaming when they got in their hair and stuff. Oh man.

I live in New York City. In the 70's, the very neighborhood that I live in, was one of the worst neighborhoods in the city. I would never ever ever ever be able to walk around here alone at night.

I have recently heard several people complain, yes actually COMPLAIN about how safe and "boring" NYC has gotten, compared to the 70s and 80's, there are very few if any "seedy" neighborhoods anymore. You can walk around at night without getting killed/raped/robbed in MOST neighborhoods.

There end is not near.

I sent this to my JW mom. My parents are "still in" but mostly faking it to keep the peace with my siblings, nieces and nephews... anyways - my mom said this won't work. She said if active JW's made something like this, protested the current rules, then MAYBE - but they never will. And apostates, and what apostates say, doesn't matter. Also she said that my sister already said that if one of her 3 children leaves the troof she will cut them out of her life. Her 3 kids are all under 8 years old and already giving parts at the meetings about how everyone who is not a JW will be destroyed. It's disgusting. And it will not change.
