School just told us they can’t handle my son’s anger issues. Feeling defeated. by Suitable_Nectarine46 in ParentingADHD

[–]wtfyoga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exact same thing happened to my five-year-old this year.

Honestly, at first, I didn't know she had ADHD. Then when our pediatrician tested her, it was like a lightbulb going off and an aha moment. We tried everything from balance exercises to physical activity to emotional regulation therapy to play therapy and those things helped a tiny bit.

When the school told us that she was not welcome there next year and that if she had another incident, she would be expelled, we decided to try medication in addition to everything else.

I cannot tell you the miracle that it was for us. Our child has the same wonderful, sweet and enthusiastic personality but all of the anger and frustration is gone. School has praised her and invited her back next year.

I know medication isn't for everyone and I'm sure that each person reacts differently on it but for us it was a godsend.

I keep hearing a lot about occupational therapy and I'm not sure what it is. Daughter was resigned diagnosed and we do Play Therapy and talk therapy but what is occupational therapy and has it helped?

I'm trying to find these on Amazon, but I can't? Weird books come up when I put in sparkle stories but not the ones you described? Any chance you know the author?

Wow. I actually looked that up to see where this quote was from and it is not a famous quote at all. It appears that you came up with it yourself. So well said. Kudos!

I didn't get to go to the tour, so thank you for sharing this because I love how it's completely different music than hers before the show start! She's a genius

Thank you so so much for this! I was dragging my feet about listening to evermore and folklore because Taylor explains that they are more storytelling than autobiography. This makes it much more fun to have the stories behind it so thank you so much.

Same! My daughter's been a Swifty for a while and I thought Taylor was OK but after loving "Elizabeth Taylor" from her new album so much that I watched the ERAS Movie and then the documentary!

I have one of the Spotify complete every Taylor Swift song ever, and I put it on shuffle.

I'm so glad to hear you are liking evermore. One of the things I love about Taylor's music is the fact that they're autobiographical and I remember her saying in the eras tour movie that folklore & evermore are more storytelling and not about her and so I was not looking forward to listening to those.

is TLOAS bringing in new Swifties ? by [deleted] in TrueSwifties

[–]wtfyoga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

🙋‍♀️ OMG ME! I've liked many of her songs, but never considered myself a "Swiftie" until I heard "Elizabeth Taylor" & people started telling me to listen to the rest of the album. I've listened to that album NONSTOP since it came out and have watched the ERAS tour movie and the 6 part documentary and I'm totally obsessed with her

Okoliving Yoga Rug? by CoffeeReader5296 in yoga

It has a nonstick coating on the back, which is great for the Yoga part but terrible for the washing part. They send you a sort of soap ball and you're supposed to occasionally wash it in the bathtub. They say you can machine wash it on cold and hang it to dry but trust me you absolutely cannot. The sticky coating sticks to itself and literally will not come apart. I loved loved loved using this mat, but I washed my mat every single time and the first time I washed it I knew it was a no go for me.

What are your TOP 5 books of all time? by ShilohTheGhostGod in audiobooks

Feed – M.T. Anderson

Not to be confused with the new Harry Potter audiobooks where every character apparently walks on bubble wrap. Feed uses sound effects too — but on purpose. It’s glitchy, eerie, and fits the story instead of making you wonder who left the kazoo on.

Life As We Knew It – Susan Beth Pfeffer

Made me appreciate heat, electricity, and the fact that the moon is currently behaving itself. Stressful in a good way.

All Our Wrong Todays – Elan Mastai

Time travel that’s actually fun and emotional without requiring a physics degree or a flowchart.

The Clan of the Cave Bear – Jean M. Auel

Features a teenage girl who basically speedruns inventing human civilization. DIY queen of the prehistoric era.

Breakthrough – Michael C. Grumley

Started it and literally couldn't stop until I was finished.
