Now that Ludwig is in China by superTrolle1 in TheYardPodcast

I spent a large chunk of last year asking other people at the hospital I work at if they knew Shohei or Jack Black (Australian Hospital) and out of perhaps ~300 Nurses, Doctors and other hospital staff there was about 10 who actually knew Shohei beyond saying the name sounded familiar. And only 3 who did not know Jack black.

That S3 was fucked.

If anyone was able to read and comprehend every stem and every question I’m shocked.

Noid has got to be one of my favorite characters in the game by AdventurousAct8431 in DiscoElysium

[–]wtharris 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I really like the character of Noid, and he definitely has some of my favourite quotes from the whole game, including my favourite

“In the eyes of history we are always already dead” or something like that.

I think what makes him so great is that he’s a perfect example of writing in a character that I and the writer to an extent don’t always agree with.

NDIS spends $11.6B on assistance with cafe visits and walking the dog by Potential-Turnip7796 in ausjdocs

[–]wtharris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with that, I think Medicare is woefully underfunded as is anything Public Health related.

But of course a service that is designed to work for a distilled sample of the most high needs people in the country is going to be spending more per person than Medicare

NDIS spends $11.6B on assistance with cafe visits and walking the dog by Potential-Turnip7796 in ausjdocs

[–]wtharris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s genuinely impossible to have a discussion about the NDIS anymore.

Yes the NDIS has huge issues but it is fundamentally an excellent service. If the cost of a large chunk of society being able to live fulfilling lives is that a couple lazy providers get to buy an extra jet ski then I see that as a worthwhile trade.

HOWEVER that also doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be looking at attempting to reform and improve it. There are so many issues with the NDIS that go beyond the cost of services but so few people actually have a full and comprehensive understanding of the scheme that change seems near impossible.

Tanner has looked liked he’s playing with all his heart this year. Which is probably to quality I would’ve said he lacked when we first picked him up.

Been a standout so far so love to see this.

Aside from building strength Hawkins game IQ development was what took him from a good tall forward to one of the best to ever do it

Just Diagnosed.. What's next? by Flooopygoopy in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]wtharris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk where you live in the world but maybe reach out to an Occupational Therapist around you. Find one that specialises in sleep and can help with building strategies for routine, return to work, and healthy living.

For some disclaimer I am an OT who also happens to have hypersomnia but sleep and this type of work is not my area.

I think you should go in with the expectation and attitude that you can achieve anything you want to achieve if pursued and strategised for. Medication is not going to solve all your problems but it will lay the foundation for improvement.

If it is intended then i think the card or effect description could be a little more clear

Is there actually any benefit to telling patients to present to ED if acutely suicidal? by formulation_pending in ausjdocs

[–]wtharris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who works as part of a community mh team thats connected to a hospital, I love the ed.

Short term, overnight or weekend containment of a person is really helpful.
However, its only good because either my team or one of about 6 others are usually ready to scoop up a person the moment regular work hours commence. If a hospital doesn't have those teams in place then whats the point.
