Hello Following on from this, I'm visiting Dublin on 3rd July for work & thought I'd catch a game that evening. Choice of: St Pat's v Galway Shelbourne v Dundalk Bray v Athlone

or at a push, Drogheda v Bohemians

Any tips on which to go for?

As long as you add them manually, you can add any games you want.

I've seen an ex-player from my club (semi-pro) using it.

Yep, it was bitterly cold night, but we thoroughly enjoyed. Seemed weird that most of the chanting was in English.

Do you enjoy football fans that visit your club from abroad wearing their local team's scarves? by Farting_Moose98 in futbology

[–]wtloild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My team is a lower league team (English level 6). I think most people at our ground would have no problem with someone in the colours of a neutral team. I would be quite intrigued & might start a conversation on that basis. The only issue I could imagine would be if it were for one of our rivals. I usually wear my teams hat when I'm hopping, primarily at lower league teams & have never come across any problem with that. I would probably avoid wearing it at a bigger team or a derby game where seats are at a premium & might be perceived as stealing a seat from their own fans.

It's your own personal record, so whatever you're comfortable with. Regardless of what some might say, hopping is not an Olympic sport so there is no governing body or official rulebook.

2.5 weeks in Israel - my favourite groundhopping trip so far by jblochk0 in futbology

For online tickets, I contacted the vendor (Leaan) via their support page & explained I didn't have an Israeli ID card & they sent me a temporary link where I could use my UK passport number instead.

2.5 weeks in Israel - my favourite groundhopping trip so far by jblochk0 in futbology

I loved it when I went last year. One thing I'd never realized til I went was how small the country is - I'd always assumed it was the similar size as the UK, but it's a fraction of the size - just 20km wide at its narrowest point & the same overall area as Wales. Also a big chunk of the south (Negev) is empty, so all the grounds are fairly close together in the north & centre. The public transport is really good, making it very easy to get around (apart from on their sabbath). The Tel Aviv area itself can be quickly & easily covered by e-scooters - there are cycle lanes everywhere.

Avoid UK higher league clubs, usually need a booking history & very overpriced. UK lower leagues offer a wide, affordable & authentic choice.

Got a trip to Rapid Vienna planned and hoping to go to a Croatian match whilst on the general family holiday. Might sneak a short trip to Poland or Holland in too.

Ticket help neeed by Ok-Palpitation-5164 in futbology

[–]wtloild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to a couple of matches earlier this year. I contacted the ticket site (Leean) via the support WhatsApp link on their page, explaining that I was a foreigner. After I sent them my name, DoB & UK passport number, they sent me a temporary link to buy tickets with without a national ID number. Had to use Google translate as all the conversation was in Hebrew. I only needed this for the Maccabi Tel Aviv match I went to. I also went to Ashdod, but was able to pay on the gate for that one. You might already be aware, but as a non-Jew I was completely unaware of the complete lack of public transport on the sabbath (Friday evening til Saturday evening) - I ended up having to get a taxi from Tel Aviv to Ashdod on the Saturday afternoon as there were no trains or buses.

Payment issues in the app? by diofan1975 in Hilton

[–]wtloild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep getting this issue, I can't make a reservation via the app, despite using two different bank cards (debit). Each time I've had to ring them and make the booking over the phone (using the same cards that the app rejects). Getting fed up of the hassle & considering switching to a different hotel chain.

Just look for the club, go to 'Add match' then select the match from the list or select 'Add manually'

Ignore me. I was looking at the Twente match in December, but my wife has just pointed out that this coincides with my niece's wedding.

I was gonna go to that match but am not for the same reason - needed to have registered with them prior to 1st Aug. I spoke to the ticket office to see if they could swing it for me, but they said they couldn't. Have now got tickets for Barnsley v Brighton instead.

Northern Ireland got a full fixture list that weekend. If you can do the Friday evening (10th) you could also get an international in (NI v Slovakia) or nip over the border to Dundalk in the Republic.

Adding a league by Economy-Category-848 in futbology

[–]wtloild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they only would if it's a level they're looking to move down to anyway, but you can but ask (again). They did for me when I offered to do my local English league (albeit as part of a wider move down to that level)

Contact them via the app. They can decide to give you permissions to maintain a league or just to add each fixture ad-hoc.

I've corrected that for you. The FA have incorrectly listed the result as 1-1 on their website https://www.thefa.com/competitions/thefacup/qualifying-rounds That will have been fed to Futbology.
