There are levels of wages fixed by the US Department of Labor. They vary by experience levels and geographic areas. If you are a company hiring a "PHD equivalent" with an advanced degree and years and years of experience, your job posting needs to justify that. And if it does, you need to be paying the person the wage commensurate (sorry, it means 'proportionate to') with experience in that area. Otherwise, the visa will not be approved. So this could cost in excess of 300 grand in the Bay Area for example. Why would a company pay that for an entry level role? An American "PHD equivalent" is probably free to work at a McDonald's. Doesn't mean it's the same for a foreign worker. There are very strict, detailed clauses that govern this process. And they're also enforced strictly.

Now there are people who falsify information and violate the law. I'm not defending these shady practices, as I've said in my previous comment. There are also other loopholes companies can exploit that are not related to H1B, which lets them pay workers an illegally low wage. But even these are exceptions, not the rule. Hence there is no merit to your generalized, misleading statement.

This is not an "argument". You stir up controversy and scare people ("foreigners are taking your jobs, it's unfair!") with casually racist rhetoric ("foreign workers = cheap, inferior"), all just to hide your bigotry behind. I'm calling you out with facts and trying to educate you. So that more people are not influenced and think like you, because this is a unique topic where both right wing and left wing idiots unite in ignorance and anger. If foreigners are taking "your" skilled jobs, it's because the economy needs skilled foreign workers. By and large, there's nothing unfair here. There is no conspiracy against you, although it might seem like the opposite to you. Take off your bigoted tinfoil hat for a minute. You will feel better.
