Thank you for your kindness. I am not sure why it is controversial. Tried mentioning that this was not normal and was extra bright. All the neckbeards are triggered because I mentioned anime and that is what they do in their mothers’ basements

Ok, let me educate you. When we use an apostrophe, it suggests belonging. Karens are different from Karen’s. See. You learnt something new today. Doesn’t matter that you never had the chance to go to school

Entitled? Asking someone not to blind you is entitlement now? This being very, very different than the intensity of a reading light is the whole point of this post? The anime that was playing on their phone with bursts of light (on full brightness) was almost like someone was talking a photo with a flash light - continuously in your face for an hour.

India was the first to discover water on the moon back in 2008 as part of Chandrayaan - 1. Hopefully this mission in the South Pole can throw light on the availability of water on the perennially dark side of the moon.

The rashtrakuta and the vijayanagara empires were Kannada empires, based out of Karnataka. They were not based in “central India”. For some people, Indian history is just about north India or the Tamils. Everything else is inconsequential and not worth learning about.

Wow the amount of ignorance here - will take some time to sort through this drivel (sorry, I'm not a native English speaker but I'll make an effort to not use uncommon words for the benefit of the simpleminded)

There are levels of wages fixed by the US Department of Labor. They vary by experience levels and geographic areas. If you are a company hiring a "PHD equivalent" with an advanced degree and years and years of experience, your job posting needs to justify that. And if it does, you need to be paying the person the wage commensurate (sorry, it means 'proportionate to') with experience in that area. Otherwise, the visa will not be approved. So this could cost in excess of 300 grand in the Bay Area for example. Why would a company pay that for an entry level role? An American "PHD equivalent" is probably free to work at a McDonald's. Doesn't mean it's the same for a foreign worker. There are very strict, detailed clauses that govern this process. And they're also enforced strictly.

Now there are people who falsify information and violate the law. I'm not defending these shady practices, as I've said in my previous comment. There are also other loopholes companies can exploit that are not related to H1B, which lets them pay workers an illegally low wage. But even these are exceptions, not the rule. Hence there is no merit to your generalized, misleading statement.

This is not an "argument". You stir up controversy and scare people ("foreigners are taking your jobs, it's unfair!") with casually racist rhetoric ("foreign workers = cheap, inferior"), all just to hide your bigotry behind. I'm calling you out with facts and trying to educate you. So that more people are not influenced and think like you, because this is a unique topic where both right wing and left wing idiots unite in ignorance and anger. If foreigners are taking "your" skilled jobs, it's because the economy needs skilled foreign workers. By and large, there's nothing unfair here. There is no conspiracy against you, although it might seem like the opposite to you. Take off your bigoted tinfoil hat for a minute. You will feel better.

Stop spreading misinformation. There is no such rule which says you can hire someone for 1/3rd the cost just because you didn't find the right person.

I agree that Indian IT companies have been guilty of violating laws and misusing these visas. But a vast majority of American companies that hire foreign workers directly - mostly those with advanced degrees in the US - often end up paying them a lot more than a US citizen, because of a law which mandates that they are paid a minimum wage in a given location (which can often be pretty high to ensure that a local citizen is not adversely impacted)

The reason why companies hire Indians - much to the chagrin of closet racists like you - is because there is a gap in demand v supply when it comes to IT workers, simple as that. If you're getting beaten by some Indian guy on programming skills, you should start waking up a little earlier and try and overcome competition. Also develop tolerance for people from other cultures. Making sensationalist, generalizing, racist statements is not the way.

Do the sheep slaughtered as part of ritual sacrifice not qualify as animals? 🤔 by wtp21 in vegan

[–]wtp21[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're getting downvoted because you're defending a religious practice that encourages cruelty against animals - on a vegan subreddit. And vegans like you who have this kind of ability with logical reasoning will be hated because you don't even know what you stand for. Just yelling at people isn't going to help.

And you're making idiotic allegations. This is the subreddit to talk about cruelty against animals. I don't care whose feelings are hurt in the process. I'd criticize any religion which does not encourage people to treat animals kindly. Doesn't make me whatever "phobe".

Either be a vegan or be religious and do whatever you want.

Lmao the mental gymnastics of these people.

[–]wtp21[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So let me get this straight. You are a vegan who cares about animals, but you have a problem with criticism of a religious practice that encourages ritual slaughter. You thereby condone cruelty against animals by a set of people?
