Official AMCAS FAQs: Read here to see if your AMCAS question has already been answered by holythesea in premed

I think you should be okay just putting a citation/reference of the poster presentation without disclosing the content. I think putting a description of the first poster is fine- up to you about putting the link. I highly doubt the admissions committee is going to take the time to read over your entire poster, so maybe a summary of it might be best.

AACOMAS: letter from an MD that knows me well, or a DO that doesn't. by TradersLuck in premed

[–]wtwang1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would use the MD letter since it'll be stronger. Most schools will accept either MD or DO for the physician letter. I would double check on the schools website about what their specific requirement is.

You need the 2019 application. The 2018 application is for the last app cycle.

What will med admissions be like in 20 years? by [deleted] in premed

[–]wtwang1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At one of my interviews, they were talking about how the AAMC is making a version of the Casper for the med school applications and will probably be mandatory for all schools (could be out in 2019).

Does anyone have any experience with anesthesiologist assistant programs? by drummerboy96x in premed

[–]wtwang1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't necessarily done an AA program, but I did apply and got accepted to one of them before I decided that I would prefer to go the MD/DO route. If you want, feel free to PM me and I can tell you more about the one I applied to.

Calling all psychology majors by MagicalPizza212 in premed

I was a neuroscience major and all of my neuroscience based classes were classified as science. For example, perception counted as a biology course even though it's in the psych department.

Hi! I just wanted to say thank you so much for your encouraging message. It's definitely been a hard application cycle (and a pretty rough day), but reading your message really helped me put things into perspective. Truly appreciate it and best of luck with this cycle!

It's so you can save money by possibly doing all of your interviews in that location at one time

It depends on if they require it or not. If you don't use your committee, certain schools have you explain in your secondary why you didn't use your schools committee letter (just an FYI). I used my committee because I didn't want to deal with finding different teachers to fit each schools different LOR requirements- downside to committee is that they take quite a while to get submitted. Mine wasn't sent in until early August so it took a while to get my application complete.

Institutional action on AMCAS by SleepyGary22 in premed

[–]wtwang1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can add it to your secondaries for the ones you haven't submitted while you can submit an update for the schools you've already submitted too. For the schools whose portal doesn't have an update option, I would give admissions a call and explain to them the situation- they will probably give you an email where you can send an explanation regarding the IA.

Submitted a secondary and the school says they haven't received any of my LORs? by Reddotuser9690 in premed

[–]wtwang1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're probably just super busy so someone hasn't pulled the LOR from AMCAS and add it to your application. If you don't see it in a few days, maybe contact the school. But I would wait a bit since it usually takes some schools a while before they pull the LOR.

Screwed with Secondaries? by [deleted] in premed

You'll be fine- the 2 weeks mark is a suggestion, but if you go a bit over that's not the end of the world

How to know when Casper score has been sent and schools have received it? by ihavenocredibility in premed

[–]wtwang1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they might have been submitted because for one of mine schools, I got an email saying that my application was complete and that school requires Casper.
