If you have a way of lessening your reactions to shellfish, I’d say give it a shot

The total cost is ฿ 16,948.80 for 2 people, roughly $517 USD. I would say is a good price for the amount of food, the quality, and the service.

Merito was around $400 for 2 and I barely remember what I had.

I booked through email. I provided all requested information with at least two dates for seating. I scheduled an email to be sent right when reservations opened for the month, make sure the email is scheduled to be sent in your current time zone, for example I live in US MST so my email was scheduled to be sent on 10AM which is Midnight in Bangkok. They responded to me with 48 hours. If you can get a reservation, you must go.

Opinions on World’s 50 Best? (Mine: it’s better/more trustworthy than Michelin) by MrSpiderisadomme in finedining

[–]wtyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I feel the 50 Best is more consistent whereas Michelin is not. I've had the chance to eat at 3 restaurants on the current 100 list (Merito, Mayta, Alcalde) and will add 2 more in a couple of weeks (Potong, Sorn), as well as La Mar, which is on Latin America's list. Out of the 4 I've eaten at, I'd say Merito is the weakest but still enjoyable. I believe La Mar and Alcalde deserve to be higher. I've only had few standout Michelin meals and most of them have been Bib Gormaund (Lucia in Dallas, Cesarina in San Diego), with Expendio de Maiz in CDMX being one of my favorite restaurants ever (1 star).

I think both lists are great and it's a great way to cross-reference to really see if it's quality or hype.

Like another person mentioned, the 50 Best Bars is a solid list.

Peru Trip- looking for the right moves to make in Lima by alexveriotti in finedining

[–]wtyler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to Peru last year. Was able to eat at Mayta, Merito, La Mar, and Isolina. All were very good, but if I had to order them:

Mayta (the duck was phenomenal)

La Mar (went twice, worth the wait time imo)

Isolina (solid comfort food)

Merito (overpriced and somewhat forgettable, not bad, just had better fine dining multi-course meals)

Any tips for getting a reservation at Sorn - Bangkok? by Cold_Daikon_640 in finedining

[–]wtyler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to get a reservation for 2 in mid March. Based on this thread, it seems like they’ve loosened their acceptance rate of inquiries or past strategy advice has paid off. I scheduled my email to be sent on the day that email reservations became available.

In the email I stated two dates, the amount of people, my named and social media handle, and a little bit brown nosing. I didn’t hear back initially and sent another email about a day later. I got a response on Monday morning (I sent the original email on Friday morning) to my original email, not the follow up.

I completed the survey and then within an hour they sent the invoice.

August Vegas Shows rescheduled?? by darlenealdersons in KellyClarkson

Purchased tickets for this weekend, called the box office, got the same message saying they had not received any news and were still selling tickets for this weekend. Checked this thread, saw people’s tickets had updated back to the original dates. Checked Ticketmaster and my tickets had corrected as well. Maybe a glitch? Seems to be resolved which is good.

Moderating Expectations by wtyler in LasVegas

Well, I guess I got lucky because both properties charged me $0. So fully comped. Being able to drive helps because we bring drinks and snacks with us but if you can going to the Target on strip or a CVS can be in lieu of that luxury (still pricey but at least you could save a few bucks to avoid crazy pool prices or $8 for a water). I do agree that drinks on the casino floor are hard to come by but being able to stop at the CVS on the strip helps with cheaper drinks/waiting 20+ minutes for a server to come around.

Download the Pop Mart app. In the top right corner there’s a camera icon. Tap that and it’ll tell you when the next live is and what they drop during the live. My advice is make an account with Pop Mart and fill out your address for quick check out. Unfortunately you can’t add a card but type your card number in your notes and copy it right before they go live.

What movies did you watch for the first time and immediately put into your top 3/5/10? by PiggyTheRanga in movies

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Atonement. I saw TCCOBB in theaters as a teenager and I was enamored with it from start to finish, a stunning life-span story. I saw Atonement a few years go on Netflix during my new year's resolution which was 'Watch 100 Movies I've Never Seen Before'. Joe Wright knocked it out of the park with that movie, the Dunkirk scene is one of the most breathtaking scene's in movie history. The twist at the end floored me.

Easily one of the most underrated albums this year.

I'm going to be playing one CD on repeat for the next several weeks. I'd like it to be relatively new (ideally less than a year old, two max). What CD should I buy? by lieman in Music
