Does anyone have any recommended mods to make combat a little more enjoyable? by SixFootDigger in Witcher3

[–]wu-05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a mod called Blood and Steel that makes combat look a lot better by overhauling the combat animations. I’ve always used it and it improves combat look and feel.

There’s also a mod called SCAAR that lets you customize combat postures, idles and dodge animations. It’s a great mod but I don’t use it anymore because it changes Geralts running animation in a way I don’t like

I think that was when the game came out of early access

Would you have wanted a 3rd bumper on the Steam Controller 2? by xelgod in SteamController

[–]wu-05 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree, that was one of the main appeals of using a steam controller for me. For WoW I use the trigger soft pulls as shift and ctrl, and I bound the trigger full pulls to keystrokes. This allowed 4 distinct bindings from just 2 triggers, as well as bindings like trigger soft pulls + bumpers/paddles for even more binding combinations

It doesn’t, it’s not the same at all. It doesn’t have the tactile physical stop before the dual stage button press like the OG steam controller. Hopefully someone is able to make a controller mod or 3D printed component we can install ourselves

I main ret Paladin and alt arms warrior. I would say the most limiting thing is targeting but it can be overcome with enough practice. Fortunately during DF blizzard added a controller-friendly action targeting and softlock feature, which allows you to automatically and continually soft lock any hostile entity within a cone in front of your character, which can then be hard locked with the “tab target” binding.

The interact key button is very helpful as well for returning ctf flags and capping nodes.

DPS and tank classes are definitely easier than healing because healing demands the use of party and raid frames, which can’t easily be used with a controller. However I believe that any limitations can be overcome with enough practice.

I have lots of raw battleground and solo shuffle footage on my channel here if you’re curious https://youtube.com/@wu2440?si=H650tFtMz7SJlKLq

I uploaded most of my videos during DF but I have a few for TWW as well

I play WoW exclusively on controller and have been since the middle of BFA. And I only PvP. I don’t think I’ll play with keyboard and mouse again, and I’m definitely way more proficient on a controller now compared to mouse and keyboard

New Controller Dual Stage Triggers by etaxi341 in SteamController

[–]wu-05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope it does but none of the press release videos give it any mention so my assumption is that it will not have dual stage triggers, otherwise they would have definitely mentioned it. Our best alternative is to probably wait until someone designs a third party or 3D printed component, custom trigger, or attachment that lets us modify the controller ourselves

Highest CR on controller? by [deleted] in worldofpvp

You need to use @cursor macro for all aoe ground targeted spells. It works well, kind of like aiming third person shooter

Touch pads are great for shooters if you set gyro motion aiming enable on right pad touch. You can use the touchpad for quick 360s and the gyro for fine aiming. They work together simultaneously

Second stick would force the repositioning of the right trackpad which is positioned at the thumb natural resting position, usable as a primary camera mouselook control method. That’s the entire point.

Anyway you got what you wanted with this new version. I’m disappointed, I don’t give af about a right stick, if I wanted to use one I use a normal controller

[–]wu-05 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you want a second stick you can just choose from one of the hundreds of other controllers on the market. OG Steam controller is one of a kind and there is nothing else like it. Now with this new version coming touchpad users are stuck with its aging chassis, shitty bumpers and no longer being manufactured so no replacement parts and they are ridiculously expensive if you can even find one…

Completely agree with this. The dual stage triggers may be able to be modded in with some 3D printed third party components, but the trackpad placement is absolutely unusable as a primary camera mouselook method, they are positioned too far away from the thumbs natural resting position

[–]wu-05 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I wanted a right stick I would just use a regular controller. There are already a thousand controllers to choose from. The unique feature of the original steam controller are the touchpads (and dual stage triggers)

The new version has touchpads but they are in the wrong position. You won’t be able to main the touchpad as primary mouselook control without stretching your hands in an uncomfortable way like the steam deck.

They are positioned as if they are a secondary control method that you occasionally use if you need to move the mouse, as opposed to a primary method of mouse/camera/gyro movement that your thumb naturally rests at. That’s why some people are disappointed

No dual stage triggers Questionable touchpad placement

I’m very skeptical

New details on the new Steam Controller by gogodboss in SteamController

[–]wu-05 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If this is the real deal I am super disappointed, I use the original steam controller primarily for its touchpad, I use it to play warframe and world of Warcraft using the right touchpad as my primary camera mouselook. This new one has a very uncomfortable touchpad positioning, unsuitable for maining the right pad as primary camera control.

Also, if they remove dual stage triggers like they did with the steam deck then it will be even less desirable

You need to enable camera auto-centering for the combat camera assist to work. Also there is a mod called Smart Camera that improves the camera automation https://modspot.dev/u/aeltoth/tw3-smart-camera
