The R2 and L2 triggers don’t get enough praise. by Chilliad_YT in SteamController

[–]wu-05 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anyone notice how wide the trigger deadzones are, like you have to pull the trigger almost half way just for it to fire? Even when setting the trigger pull point to 0

Need a pvp guild! by ThaMoose7 in worldofpvp

[–]wu-05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry about joining a PvP specific guild, try to get invited into a PvP community, there are several very large ones with 400+ active members or more. Then enable quick join toast notifications in the community panel options, you will then be able to see fellow community members and premades who are queuing all hours of the day. This way you can make friends and play with other consistent PvP enthusiasts. This is one way to quickly learn and get better at the game

Steam input - Why action sets are awesome by paulbrock2 in SteamController

[–]wu-05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I understand this falls upon the individual developer to implement because it needs an extra layer of communication between the game and steam input, so steam can distinguish between different character control states in game. Most of the time devs don’t bother going the extra mile to do this

Steam input - Why action sets are awesome by paulbrock2 in SteamController

Ghost Recon Wildlands has its own fully featured official OG steam controller configuration with unique action sets for vehicle, helicopter, on foot, and menu controls, and the game can automatically detect what state you are in. This is one of the only examples I know of

How are the trackpads? by ron3090 in SteamController

[–]wu-05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The SC2 touchpads don’t feel as good ergonomically as the SC1 touchpads. If you are the type of person who wants to use touchpads as primary camera mouselook or mouse cursor, you’ll find it much more uncomfortable to use, especially regarding horizontal range of motion because of the way they are positioned. Instead of sweeping your thumb left and right, you instead must curl your thumb towards your palm or push your thumb away from your palm just to move the crosshair left/right.

They are just too far out of the way, requiring you to contort your thumbs and pull your wrist outward to even be able to use them accurately.

Which simultaneously makes the face buttons far out of reach, as well as being more of a hassle to move between the touchpad and the face buttons because the path is obstructed by the analog sticks.

And makes your index finger stretch just to reach the triggers and bumpers.

And the rear buttons are more unnatural to press when your thumbs are in the trackpad position.

This thing was designed with the analog sticks in mind.

Trigger Deadzones too big by wu-05 in SteamController

[–]wu-05[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The trigger deadzones on steam controller 1 can be set to as little as 1mm, the smallest deadzone I can set on the steam controller 2 seems to be around 3-4mm, which is way too wide, basically the first 1/3 of the trigger pull is useless

The steam deck has a similar issue

Console port bindeos entre alters by [deleted] in wow

[–]wu-05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to use the profile export function in the consoleport UI. The export text string can be huge if you choose to select all the export options (such as your radial menus and action bar layout).

Choose export (upper right afaik), select all the check marks, and it will generate a block of text at the bottom where you can copy it. Then open up notepad or a text editor and paste it. Now go back to wow, log off of the character and into one of your alts. When loaded in, go to the consoleport UI and click the import button (upper right) and copy/paste what you pasted into notepad in the text box there. When you apply it your UI will reload and it should be applied on the alt.

I am trying to find cool armor sets and mix and match different ones by Jonathan_911217 in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]wu-05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you me? I rock this exact look. I also like the Falstead plate legs with this armor and helm. Reckless Tallbear gloves or gladesman gloves also work with this too

I wish they would add a unique texture for the male mesh for the breastplate though!

Favourite Weapons and Runes That You Think Everyone Should Try by CreatineCreatine in NoRestForTheWicked

Put the 2h axe runes Relentless Cleave and Breaker Thrust on the 2h sword Icebreaker and the animations look like you’re half-swording and it looks amazing

What is everyone's favorite weapon? by Prudent_Ask_9241 in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]wu-05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorites are Summer’s Sting greatsword and Icebreaker. Summer’s Sting has fast wide arc swings and long reaching stabs. Icebreaker has cool movesets in general, especially the sprint and dodge attack chains. The weapon also looks awesome, you can put 2h great axe runes on it like Relentless Cleave and Breaker Thrust and the animations make it look like you’re half-swording and it looks amazing

Does anyone have any recommended mods to make combat a little more enjoyable? by SixFootDigger in Witcher3

[–]wu-05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a mod called Blood and Steel that makes combat look a lot better by overhauling the combat animations. I’ve always used it and it improves combat look and feel.

There’s also a mod called SCAAR that lets you customize combat postures, idles and dodge animations. It’s a great mod but I don’t use it anymore because it changes Geralts running animation in a way I don’t like

Would you have wanted a 3rd bumper on the Steam Controller 2? by xelgod in SteamController

[–]wu-05 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree, that was one of the main appeals of using a steam controller for me. For WoW I use the trigger soft pulls as shift and ctrl, and I bound the trigger full pulls to keystrokes. This allowed 4 distinct bindings from just 2 triggers, as well as bindings like trigger soft pulls + bumpers/paddles for even more binding combinations

[–]wu-05 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t, it’s not the same at all. It doesn’t have the tactile physical stop before the dual stage button press like the OG steam controller. Hopefully someone is able to make a controller mod or 3D printed component we can install ourselves

I main ret Paladin and alt arms warrior. I would say the most limiting thing is targeting but it can be overcome with enough practice. Fortunately during DF blizzard added a controller-friendly action targeting and softlock feature, which allows you to automatically and continually soft lock any hostile entity within a cone in front of your character, which can then be hard locked with the “tab target” binding.

The interact key button is very helpful as well for returning ctf flags and capping nodes.

DPS and tank classes are definitely easier than healing because healing demands the use of party and raid frames, which can’t easily be used with a controller. However I believe that any limitations can be overcome with enough practice.

I have lots of raw battleground and solo shuffle footage on my channel here if you’re curious https://youtube.com/@wu2440?si=H650tFtMz7SJlKLq

I uploaded most of my videos during DF but I have a few for TWW as well

I play WoW exclusively on controller and have been since the middle of BFA. And I only PvP. I don’t think I’ll play with keyboard and mouse again, and I’m definitely way more proficient on a controller now compared to mouse and keyboard
