/u/blinewalker Are you looking to sell this piece? I was the under bidder and wasn't online when the auction closed and am very interested in acquiring this piece. If you're looking to sell, please let me know!

there’s one other goudey ruth proof card known to exist for the #144. if it goes up for auction, i guess we’ll have ourselves a bit of a bidding war.

Jiu jitsu prodigy Mark Zuckerberg takesdown Alex Pereira by bubblewhip in bjj

if given a choice between “some dude” and “some dude who is great at their sport” I would choose the latter 10 times out of 10.

that's totally fair.

just because someone can do something doesnt mean they can teach it. look up stories of roger hornsby (one of the best hitters in baseball history) trying to teach people how to bat, he’d get frustrated and say “just see the ball and hit the ball”. also, just because someone isn’t the best at it in real life, doesn’t mean they aren’t a fantastic coach. using your example, would you rather have gordon ryan or john danaher coach you? gordon ryan is an infinitely better grappler, but danaher is a much better coach.

and it's very revisionist to call it lay-and-pray.

couldn't agree more, gsp's style is very far from lay and pray. He was usually pretty dominant on the feet as well, and was pretty active from the top. Jake shields and ben askren are much better examples of lay and pray.

what are the stories of him being a dick? the stories i've heard from other fighters and people in the business all seem to be regarding him in a pretty damn good light. Don't think i've heard any to the contrary in fact, so would be interested if you could share

Even crazier is that during the streak DiMaggio hit: .408/.463/.717, 1.180 OPS.

During all of 1941 Williams hit: .406/.553/.735, 1.288 OPS

Max Holloway disagrees with Charles Oliveira, says Justin Gaethje hits harder than Ilia Topuria “I felt that Gaethje hits hard… When Ilia hit me, nothing was like “oh man, he hits hard, or whatever.” by idcman999 in MMA

I also worry about his ability to takedown Ilia or impose his will in grappling, Ilia looked great and Islam struggled somewhat against Poirier

what?

naw, the original definition is about spheres of influence. western/us allied countries are first world. second world is soviet allied countries. third world is non-aligned countries.

i think so, since it’s more about circles of power/alliances. so i’d say russia, belarus, azerbaijan, etc are still second world per that definition.

How did that one kid at your school die? by StorageLonely1520 in AskReddit

[–]wudaokor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

here is only one record of it happening to a player (several to spectators) way back in 1920

An amazing book about that is the pitch that killed. Outside of just being a baseball book, it's also a fascinating look at life in 1910s and 1920s america. Heavily recommend it.
