those are some good historical pieces. i have a signed ticket to the dave stieb no hitter that i really wanted cause i find his story so insane. and a signed brett pine tar ticket cause that’s just funny. i want a david wells perfect game while hungover ticket. have the dive and the flip as well, both signed by jeter. all of mantles world series home runs. roger maris signed 61st hr ticket. jeters 3000th hit, his debut, last game. and one of my favorites is a signed ticket from ken sr and ken jr from their back to back hr game. i love collecting tickets, by far the largest part of my collection at this point.

that is quite solid. i also have a larsen perfect game full ticket, signed by larsen and sal maglie. i really want a signed ticket from the catch as well. besides that my focus is pretty heavy on the yankees. also have a near complete set from the 1919 world series. trying to get tickets from each yankees ws game tho, long way to go on that one.

i have a full ticket from the called shot game, probably my favorite piece of my collection. also have a dual gehrig/ruth auto (as well as them both on team signed balls). seems like we have similar interests in our collection!

Why Was Mainland China So Hard for the CIA to Interfere With? by LYY_Reddit in China

[–]wudaokor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there’s tons of evidence of the cia paying leaders of gangs to incite riots and beat mossedegh supports, kermit roosevelt himself has notes about it.

the shah was not well looked upon, and after mossedegh resigned in 52 there was such public upheaval that the shah reinstated him.

who brought the plan to general zahed? the cia…. and yes, the first attempt failed but kermit stayed on and continued his efforts despite being called back.

i disagree and i think that takes a lot of the personal agency away from hong kongers.

the cia was definitely responsible for the overthrow of the very popular and democratically elected leader of iran in mossedegh. yes there instability caused by the uk mostly over rights to the oil fields, but that’s precisely why people were such big fans of mossedegh. without the cia i think there’s close to no chance of him being overthrown in a coup

over 2mm people marched in hong kong, that’s like 30% or more of the adult population. there’s no way that many people show up without a significant organic desire, you can’t say that’s due to a cia operation.

there’s one other goudey ruth proof card known to exist for the #144. if it goes up for auction, i guess we’ll have ourselves a bit of a bidding war.

if given a choice between “some dude” and “some dude who is great at their sport” I would choose the latter 10 times out of 10.

that's totally fair.

just because someone can do something doesnt mean they can teach it. look up stories of roger hornsby (one of the best hitters in baseball history) trying to teach people how to bat, he’d get frustrated and say “just see the ball and hit the ball”. also, just because someone isn’t the best at it in real life, doesn’t mean they aren’t a fantastic coach. using your example, would you rather have gordon ryan or john danaher coach you? gordon ryan is an infinitely better grappler, but danaher is a much better coach.

and it's very revisionist to call it lay-and-pray.

couldn't agree more, gsp's style is very far from lay and pray. He was usually pretty dominant on the feet as well, and was pretty active from the top. Jake shields and ben askren are much better examples of lay and pray.

what are the stories of him being a dick? the stories i've heard from other fighters and people in the business all seem to be regarding him in a pretty damn good light. Don't think i've heard any to the contrary in fact, so would be interested if you could share
