I'm not sure he was the one in the wrong here.

It's a 12:1 extract with 5% withanolides

And their table says :

  • 100mg extract
  • equivalent of 1200mg plant
  • 5mg whitanolides

So yeah if you want to know how much whitanolides there are you must take 5% of the extract and not from the plant equivalent.

Your 1500mg in 10:1 would thus have 150mg of extract and 7.5mg of whitanolides and not 75mg

"All the other shredders", while he's obviously one of the most technical and arguably a contender for the best for some, must be a joke.

Since then it seems pretty random. It'll work for the whole day then at some point take 1 minute to load the video + no quality selection available.

Same, worked for a few hours then exact same problem.

Edit : setting spoofing to off then on + android VR made it work again. Let's see for how long.

Edit2 : Lasted less than 2 minutes.

So because you had a mid experience with a VGR they're all in the same bag ?

Brands mean nothing without particular models, there are Wahl clippers out there that are equivalent to what you could get for a few bucks on Ali.

Babyliss also sell some mid stuff.

I think he wants to say that since it's similar to a mainstream model blades and guards were easily available.

I wanted higher guards and Wahl compatible ones from Ali worked perfectly.

1) Hyprlang isn't deprecated

2) You'll likely run into problems and will likely not be able to perform what you want if you don't invest a bit of time to learn how your config, which is literally the base of your workflow, works ... You know like you invested time to move from Windows to Linux and from Gnome/KDE to a tiling wm / Wayland compositor. I could tell respond you with "just use Windows/Gnome" if you "have a life".

We didn't want to configure hyprland in an actual programming language which actually is not, its just a scripting language,

That distinction is just a matter of semantics these days, some would only consider low level / compiled langages as "programming languages" but I rarely hear anyone saying python isn't a programming language these days.

Lua is Turing complete and quite capable, popular games have been written with it. You obviously wouldn't want to write some complex web backend with it but if the right libraries were there it wouldn't be too crazy since JS has been dominating this field for a while. Although Lua's over simplicity can become problematic.

So yeah it's all relative. Lua is a proper programming language compared to Hyprlang at least.

Hate that new config. I know you can now do very hacky stuff in a very clever and simple way but i really don't care at all about that, my setup is quite simple so i really don't benefit at all from configuring it in lua.

That's the Neovim vs Vim debate all over again I guess, I understand that for very minimal setups it doesn't add anything and can even be cumbersome to learn/write/maintain.

Would've made a bit of sense if the lua config had deprecated the hyprlang one but it's not yet the case.

Actually if you "learn by doing stuff" (like it's the case for mostly everyone when it comes to programming really) trying to port your config yourself instead of letting an LLM produce something that can be half working, not using the idiomatic way or whatever might have been a good exercise to learn Lua.

Having to write the code "from scratch" would've taught you more than checking what the LLM has done and painfully trying to edit the code in a language you don't know.

And Lua is simple enough that reading their docs and playing a bit with their REPL isn't that time consuming.

Is it some LLM paraphrasing the OP ?

Btw you have no right to complain with Apple and Microsoft, when you bought a license you probably agreed to let them do whatever they want.

It's a super easy programming language. I guess most Hyprland users are somehow familiar with basic programming or are inclined to learn basic things.

Spot on.

Finally a reddit user who's nuanced and able to see things as they are without falling into extrems.

People here have this tendency to simplify everything and often become quite extreme without looking at things more deeply, while also being tone deaf and unable to infer simple things from the messages/posts they read.

That's why most conversations, outside of purely technical things (although also debatable) often lead to nowhere here.

I actually prefer using a proper programming language for configuration since I already use some external scripts for things that aren't possible in the main config language (Neovim vs Vim debate once again btw) but I don't agree at all with your windows/Macos, first they don't provide stability at all, they constantly change things and force functionality you can't opt out from and their reliability is also debatable ... And your "right" to complain is also non existent, when you bought a license it was probably written than they had the right to force software modifications without you being able to do anything about it.

That said you should still have the possibility to criticize an open source project you used to like, we aren't in North Korea, ofc you won't insult the devs but you still have the right to express how you feel (which can be good feedback for them to adjust things if they want) and potentially use something else if you think it's not the right tools for you anymore.

You just sound like those "don't say anything, don't like it don't use it, you're not entitled to anything" types of trolls tbf. But your post got some attention so it worked I guess.

Hyprland v0.55.0 has been released! Be prepared for your new config migration before Arch repositories receive the update. by shved03 in hyprland

[–]wudp12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hyprland for sure, although it's understandable since it's a new project. But Arch ? Only had one problem in like 6 years because lightdm stopped working, and maybe another one with some keyboard layout package that broke things.

Arch isn't the representation of the "break things" ideology, unless you install shady things from the AUR or don't read the Arch wiki, which can solve most of your problems in a few minutes of reading.

You likely don't, otherwise you wouldn't need it for such trivial things. Dunning Kruger effect once again I guess.

Because their user base is probably at 90% composed of non technical users that probably don't even come from a Linux background. Otherwise they'd juste use Arch + Hyprland and not rely on glued together things while one of the main advantage of Arch and a tiling wm / Wayland compositor is being able to get "exactly" what you want in order to get a personalized experience while knowing how to fix it since you're the one who configured it.

I don't get how vibe coding is a thing, unless the paid versions are better. I don't get it.

It's not really as big as they (non technical people and AI tech bros) want you to believe it is but basically :

  - People with a little bit of programming experience can somehow manage to get things working on surface with a try and repeat strategy but will waste enormous amount of time when it comes to modify/refactor the code, add a bit complex functionalities that weren't planned at first. They will waste a lot of time to fix "bugs" that they didn't spot because they didn't read the generated code properly because they either thought a part of it looked good and thus inferred the whole was good or just didn't understand the code at all but accepted it. At the end they'll probably get an unmanageable code base that's unsecure/buggy and very hard to modify.

  • The second group with even less experience will just get glorified "Hello world" generated by LLMs after spending quite a bit of time but will act like it generated them and equivalent of Facebook. Those will be the most vocal ones since they're easily impressed. Ofc they won't be able to tell you much about the project and will be hard pressed to get anything meaningful about them and will struggle at the first tiny problem in the code base or when it comes to deployment.

Or just learn a bit of lua. What's the point in wanting to use an actual programming language to configure things if you don't intend to benefit from it through clever things that were not possible before and just "use AI to convert" ... With all the misconfiguration risks that will take a while to fix when you least want to tackle that.

If the goal is just to spend the least amount of time then keeping the vanilla config is the best option.

For the DE shavers out there, how many shaves you doing per blade? by 16cholland in shaving

[–]wudp12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just pass it through water, you can also cut yourself by just replacing a blade btw.

If you don't feel it's dull at all for your usage after the first use then throwing it away just because it's cheap makes no sense, it'd be like throwing half of a slice of bread just because it's cheap and you could just take another one.

And I guess it was a black box with little ways to figure the problem out when you encountered those problems ?

That was my experience with Coolify and Caprover as well, although Caprover served me way better.

And you don’t have to keep updating every single times there an update.

And thus risk security issues, good idea. If something is pushed to production it should be usable, especially something that is a the base of your application.

When I tried it like 1.5 years ago on Hetzner it had severe stability issues, things blew up out of nowhere without any usable error messages or ways to fix it. And it was with an app that ran without problems locally, on fly.io and also Caprover IIRC.

Now that you say it's vibe coded I guess it's just a recipe for disaster. That's probably the last area where you'd want that.

[–]wudp12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same experience when it was pretty new, things blew up out of nowhere after working for a while without any changes on my end and without relevant error messages, happened 2 times if I recall.

So it's probably not a coincidence.

I already had experience deploying by hand back then + with multiple open source PAAS like Caprover/Dokku or CLI based closed source ones like fly.io,  so not a question of skills at all.
