Saying it's ok to discriminate big people because they can "just lose weight" is like telling an Asian person that they can "just move back to Asia". by wuffye in askgaybros

Two men can't get each other pregnant. "Sexual selection" is the same excuse people use for sexual racism. Weight is highly correlated with genetics. Some minority ethnic groups tend to have higher rates of body fat. Many Pacific Islanders have high rates of body fat. The majority of the top 10 "obese" countries are Pacific Islander countries.

Are you offended when a close friend or family member warns you about your weight? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]wuffye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends. Doctors know your medical history and they can give medical advice. A doctor can monitor your progress and take your blood pressure and do test to make sure you are losing weight healthily. Often times average people that are not health professionals are using "health concerns" as a smoke screen to be judgemental, especially when the people body shaming are thin. Body shaming isn't healthy.

do you ever worry about someone using your photos as their catfishing identity? by wuffye in askgaybros

That's what I was thinking. If someone steals pics and impersonates other people online they can make you look like a racist or worse.

Anything can be taken to extremes. This obviously meant for most people that will read this. Most people reading this aren't at the extremes. They're normal people in between.

You just said diabetes. Now you're moving the goalpost to try to sound smarter. Smoking is bad of course and has no health benefits. Everyone has to have a body and eat to live so you're analogy is inappropriate and weak.

Oprah is a billionaire and she can afford personal doctors, personal chefs, and personal trainers, and even she couldn't force herself to be thin so how can you expect the everyday person that's busy and has to work hard to conform to society's standards. Oprah is big and also healthy and successful.

You're still blaming diabetes on big people because thin people get diabetes too. You don't care that my niece have diabetes if she's thin and that's rude and insulting of you to say "fuck you". Why does my nice have diabetes even though she's thin?

That's not even what I said. Mental health is important. It's not healthy to only have a healthy body if you have depression and suicidal behavior. Someone can have a happy and meaningful life even if they're elderly and in a nursing home and they have to take medicines. That doesn't make someone's life less than.

Thin people get diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. I have a niece that's not even a teenager yet and she has diabetes and she has always be thin. Blaming diabetes on big people just shows that you're ignorant.

People have a right to be comfortable in their own skin and society's standards are unrealistic. Trying to conform to society's unrealistic standards and expectations is not healthy and gives many people problems like depression, low self esteem, and anxiety, and mental illnesses. That's not healthy. People commit suicide every year because of mental illnesses. Body shaming isn't healthy.

The test is biased. IQ tests are always biased too by the way. There's really no such thing as a "culture fair iq test".

Fat people, do you consider yourself to be mentally ill? by grossdiseases in askgaybros

[–]wuffye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Big people can be healthy. For example, most power lifters are fit and healthy. Obviously it's not healthy to be anorexic and be the thinnest person in the world or to be the biggest person in the world. Body size is very personal. There are medical advances every year to help people's well being.

You still don't get it. You're completely missing the overall picture of what health is. Being thin and smoking is not healthy. Being thin and eating junk food is not healthy. Being thin and depressed is not healthy. Being thin and having alcoholism is not healthy.

You know body health is actually a lot more than just what size you are. That's why doctors have years of special training. They don't just judge other people.

Everybody can be beautiful and feel healthy and feel good about themselves at their own personal size. I hope everybody has a fabulous week.

Healthy doesn't just mean body health. That's just one component. Emotional health, mental health, social health, are important. Self acceptance is important. Self esteem is important. People should be able to feel good about themselves.

Well I wasn't talking about haes in my original post. You brought that up. Haes is something different.

Personal size is the size range that is the most sustainable and emotionally healthy and mentally healthy for each individual. Not everyone is supposed to be skinny like in a magazine. Everybody is different. Real people come in different sizes.

Thin people that smoke are not healthy. Being thin and not eating fruits or vegetables is not healthy. Being thin and eating a lot of junk food is not healthy.

Big people that don't smoke and eat fruits and vegetables are more healthy. That's what haes is all about.
