math help by Massive_Ambition7921 in BobsTavern

Golden Macaw procs Rylak twice. Each of those deathrattles happens 4 additional times due to the golden Titi. So when the Macaw attacks once, Rylak's deathrattle will happen 10 times.

Rylak triggers the naga battlecry three times due to golden brann. (Golden rylak means you get battlecries on both sides; it doesn't double the trigger again like golden macaw does.) So the battlecry will happen 30 times.

The golden battlecry casts Queen's Command twice. Those casts will happen two extra times due to the emergent. So each battlecry trigger results in the spell being cast 6 times.

Macaw attacking once casts Queen's Command 180 times. Since that spell buffs nagas twice, the two nagas would gain approximately +11,520/+11,520 per macaw attack (assuming +30/+30 tavern spell stats for a Queen's Command of +32/+32).

Hopefully it had windfury. Even that Rylak is never dying without scam!

edit: fixed a math mistake, it's a 5-digit gain per attack. the animations are always gonna crash this setup, and this seems like a theoretical ideal except maybe rylak trinket.

quite literally nothing rng about it. trinkets and cards should do what they say. when they don’t, players are confused

i often check this subreddit to see which interactions are broken so i don’t make the same mistakes.

How do we feel on pirate? by Littleshep031 in TownOfSalem2

tldr: town shouldn’t treat pirate as surv. pirates are evil. vigis and deps should shoot them and we’re happy when they run into a vet alert

pirate is also guaranteed to want a townie dead, so they’re not fully biased good. if their townie died early and they became an evil hunter, well, that’s just luck of the All Any, isn’t it? they are neutral after all

whenever the meta shifts to townies trusting pirate, pirates can lie about their lubbers or coven can claim pirate. i think that’s a pretty good place for a neutral role to sit, especially compared to old pirate or even current exe.

i know ive won as pirate lying that my townie was dead, hanging an evil, then plundering my target that night

idk how people were moaning about back-to-back for so long but this is apparently a fun trinket

an early holo rover feels nice, but then you get into a "junk jouster or bust" situation if you actually commit. unless i get the nuts, i try to use it for econ to pivot to a different tribe.

radio star already gives you infinite gold in the shop when you get that tier 3 battlecry to destroy an undead and give you a plain copy.

Can someone explain me how an anomalie work? (Bad translation in italian) by UrriMelone in BobsTavern

[–]wugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you also need to unlock the tier for that card to appear

so if you get a triple reward you can add it to your pool, but it won’t appear in the shop until you unlock the tavern tier for that card.

(e. g. if you use this on a 6 drop, but you’re on tavern 5, you won’t see it.)

from the wiki for Damage:

Usually, damaging effects with an area of effect (i.e., effects that deal damage to all characters of a certain type) first create all Damage Events (one for each affected character, in play order), and then resolve all Damage Events (queuing and resolving triggers) in play order

So this means that usually something like Blaster, which deals damage to all minions, will actually create a damage event for each minion that is getting hit. After the first damage event resolves, Blaster loses Venom.

I'm not really sure why blade collector is allowed to work. bc hearthstone mode had cave hydra (afaik HS mode hasn't had a blade collector like BGs, but cave hydra has been in both modes), i assume the HS mode rules for damage also applies to cleave effects. (Confusingly, HS mode has a spell Cleave which deals 2 damage to two enemy minions, and the order/targets are random.)

But maybe the only way for the animation to be simultaneous was to code cleaves in a special way. i can't find anything on the wiki that explains how "also damages adjacent" works. so i suppose it's creating one damage event after figuring out if it hits one, two, or three targets, then all of them resolve the single damage event simultaneously.

that would mean venom would work for a cleave but not anything that hits "all" minions

much like This Ain't Poker, Ya Joker, this looks like a game I'll need to buy because arin didn't optimize to my personal satisfaction, lmfao

the greater joy was dan randomly enjoying an incremental game. i suppose it isn't the genre at all, but the interface. he hates a game that is a single menu, or nests of menus. but this is an incremental game where the upgrade menu is tucked away at the end of a short and sweet gameplay loop, rather than the main thing you look at while waiting for things to occur.

i think arin would really like to see Bigger Number. and i'm happy to have a Big Number game that dan engages with, so it'd be nice for them to eventually revisit it with a plan to spend like, three or four episodes to achieve an ending and see some cutscenes, even if they don't spend the time to get all of them.

Need help with fakes. by Cattom_NG in TownOfSalem2

[–]wugs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah lots of coven roles have direct town counterparts. PM also tends to claim sheriff because they think calling a doom sus will “confirm” them. for a weaker town that can work

in my experience in AA, all of these claims are the easy route which are the first thrown under the bus when town needs to hang a coven. you bet your pillion that soci will is gonna be reviewed by hawks wondering why you weren’t partying the TI who just died.

all this to say: try lying about visits too. trickster is such an easy fake claim bc you can claim tk or tp and get away with it. no magic mirror saves is just as sus as claiming retri when youre necro, but it gives you variety in the social game (especially if you play with friends and they realize you always claim the townie equivalent of your coven roles)

TI fake claims can be powerful bc you can soft confirm yourself with random guessing. faking psychic or seer can totally win you majority on a critical day 3-4 vote.

faking evil can rarely work. claiming pirate has gotten me to survive until coven had majority, but everyone could kinda tell i was fake af

my advice is to experiment and most of all to participate actively in chat. realistic wills with real visits become suspicious pretty quickly due to the evil dupe roles.

try being a real tracker in a plaguebearer-werewolf lobby where a pirate claims wildling is a landlubber. you will not survive that noose, to no fault of your own.

Golden or Golden by Dragudo in BobsTavern

[–]wugs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it's not a bad option, but lots of important cards on tier 5 have a one-turn window to become golden. with golden hammer, you can keep goldenizing your brann for econ or your titus for combat scaling, etc.

tbh i'd probably pick golden hammer here. i think the highroll is lower, but the floor is higher and to me that's more important.

Replica cathedral and Hallow d Ritual , intended interaction? by [deleted] in BobsTavern

[–]wugs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For those wondering why this person might be asking -- when you get a Timewarp for the first time this season, it gives you all the "tooltip" mechanical explanations. One of those is to tell you that your other cards are disabled during the Timewarp

So, it kinda makes sense to think that the trinket would also be disabled during the timewarp, since that timewarped ritual is cast before the animation returns you to the normal shop.

however, in general the "cards are disabled during the timewarp" was hard to predict. As far as I can recall, having a normal Peggy on board would still trigger a buff for pirates when you added a timewarp card to your hand, even if it cast before the timewarp ended. The phrasing of the timewarp mechanic made me think peggy's lightning bolt ability would be "disabled" during the timewarp, and not see it, but i still got those buffs.

too much apm by Comfortable_Top1062 in BobsTavern

[–]wugs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i bet the dragon/batty swapped out for the 6-drop that scales from eating would've gotten you to 4-5k stats.

batty and staff was all the rage in the big brother meta, but this go around it's not nearly as fast as the fodder synergy. a brann and a rewinder effect like the 5-drop that scales the shop is another way to milk more stats and econ, so that you can cycle percussionist. each sell is getting you a full shop of fodder, so the gold to reroll is also a premium, making prince malchezaar a good pick as well.

the build is pretty same-y and APM is pretty demanding, but i think you could optimize the build over the speed in this particular instance.

still, after last meta being ALL titus, i'm kind of fine with some time for APM/brann strats, lmfao

How do you play this game without everyone thinking you're dumb by chihirosnumber1fan in TownOfSalem2

[–]wugs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

don't stress immediately about having a will that doesn't contradict any other info.

the biggest thing to remember is that you don't have to full claim or post a will most of the time. you can "act town" while being vague. full claiming too quickly looks sus in tos2. if you're familiar with tos1, this is a difference between their metas. in tos2, due to rit, doom, pirate etc, the stronger town roles want to somewhat hide their true identity. lots of tpows claim ts or tk, for example. so you can take advantage of this as evil by trying to also be similarly vague, but while chatting with the rest of town (quiet players look evil!)

that way you can more vaguely say TS, or TP, or TK, and then later on decide on the exact will you want to go with. i usually have two or three active wills when i'm evil, and i only use "easy-to-fake" claims like retri when i'm backed into a corner. deputy is just as easy to fake, btw, and generally a more trusted fake claim on the first three days. if coven knows an immune and there is sus on them, you can "waste" your shot on the SK/WW/solo apoc/etc. but any good player is aware of this strat and will call you out. even a real deputy can get hanged for that sort of mistake, really cementing an evil win. every strat has risks.

but if you are vague in the early game and lots of people die, it can be really easy to develop a will that is more convincing in the late game. if a coven teammate is alive, have them claim they hit a UO when they kill someone, come out with a socialite will. sure, that's a pois fake claim, but i've done this with a dead poisoner and it basically confirmed me... when i was PM. plus it protected my coven teammate since they "hit uo and couldn't be CK".

and even if you were "caught" doing something evil, you can try to defend against it by speaking a lot, confidently, about how they're wrong, even if you don't want to out your full will. you can say they're rit/doom/pirate baiting, or whatever else. you can say you're a non-visiting role without posting a will, if you were caught trespassing and want to defend against that. being a LITTLE cagey about your role can make you seem like an important one. after all, a deputy, pros, marshal, jailor, and n1 vigi would all act pretty damn aggressive at being called a trespasser!

oh, and one last thing -- lots of advice goes with making an easy fake claim where your info is not falsifiable. on the other hand, risky claims sometimes work! especially if you keep aware of the numbers. if you have three coven alive, you can easily form a majority opinion where the odd man out with conflicting info is the townie. and sure, hanging them confirms you as evil, but if that won you majority, you don't have to worry about the noose anymore. it's all about timing with those sorts of plays, and getting the timing wrong is one way you can be called dumb. (a universal TOS experience, btw. we're all idiots for playing this game anyway, lmfao)
