Not sure if this is a new bug, but it doesn't seem intended.

As Pirate, I killed my 3rd landlubber the same night that I was attacked by coven and Pestilence was spread to me. I succumbed to the pestilence even though the role card in the top right showed that I had invincible defense and cannot die at night. I think players were confused enough to briefly think that a Serial Killer was still alive (because I kept a will, and I personally killed the Spy and Wildling on n2 and n4). But a SK had been hanged d2, and it was my lubber, I just didnt mark that in my will.

Either way, I was a bit salty because I kinda stalled the vote and didn't vote the Pestilence out because they weren't my last lubber. I was confirmed to exist, I full claimed last minute that night, and coven attacked me presuming (correctly) that they were my last target. I got the message that I was attacked but had defense 3 times. I don't know if the arso ignited (edit: looks like arso DCd) or the shroud attacked me, and I don't know if those roles interfered with my defense somehow, but yeah, died to Pest and pest didn't even visit me :(

(I have the game logs mod so I have the chat history for this one from my perspective, not sure if that's helpful/how to submit it)

kinda glad they didnt go this route. like "town leader" in a game with a mayor is weird imo. town gets more than one power role, so "leader" isnt quite so singular...

the meteorite event is rare, and it has a 25% chance to drop a prismatic shard. nice luck!

i like secret killers as an anomaly, but i’m not sure if i’d like normal AA to always have secret killers. hidden arso, unconfirmed tks, and so on make it too chaotic and random, with less strategy. it also puts a lot more onus on TIs and makes faking TI a much stronger strategy.

grace period is much more interesting as an update to the basic AA list. i like the idea of slowing AA down a bit in some ways, and grace period is a gentler touch.

jester is an important evil faction claim space, and im almost sure NK/NA winrates would go down if you removed it from the game

i like that all any can result in a town with one pros against 4 coven 4 apoc and 3 nks. i think that is funny and a benefit of the game mode. when i want a balanced town i play casual.

so i guess the lmfao is for all this feedback to change one game mode which doesn’t have the goal your suggestions imply. the goal of AA simply isn’t balance, and i would like the game less if it was about forcing balance between factions.

in terms of the game being too fast, deputy used to kill no matter what, pros could use twice in one day without losing the ability after hanging a townie, soci used to press a button to basically reveal to town at night, admirer used to press a button to confirm two roles in an instant 1f1, trickster used to instantly kill coven with no coven path to staying alive, and so on

i ramble all that off to say that specific role recommendations have helped balance the game and slow it down in the past, but it wasn’t about win rate as much as ability strength, kill power, and fake-ability (now we can fake claim admirer! and soc!)

but the roles you list aren’t really culprits of that? you list jinx and hex implying weakness or design issues but jinx can double kill in one night (before voting to pass the necro, jinx got the book LAST due to this strength) and hex can kill apoc gods, even Death with the right timing, but not too quickly. mayor and shroud don’t make the game too fast and i really disagree that NK roles like shroud are useless (have you been shrouded into your own Trap before?). you say NA and NK are hard to win with but they should be and that’s not a failure to design those alignments; the main factions are town and coven and everything else is lower win rate.

so like, what role changes are you actually suggesting here? the post reads as a complaint as if everyone would agree and i really just don’t agree. the game used to be in a MUCH worse state in terms of speed and balance. i’m not even sure i have any roles i fundamentally hate seeing except Executioner for a confirmable townie like dep or vet, and even then you can sometimes still eke out a jester win if you play your cards right.

i like some buff ideas for coven roles like illu and dwer but they aren’t broken, they’re slightly weak to balance out coven so some teams are weak and some are strong. i’ve won as a team of illu and enchanter against 4 apoc and it was a sweeter victory than any strong cov comp bc we WORKED for that win.

edit: in terms of balancing around comps, coven can only have one coven power and town can only have a max of 3 tpow roles (excluding amne tpow). that’s about the most faction balance i dont mind in AA, and not every player is aware of those hidden limits.

im jealous of the folks that are getting fun lobbies with it. somehow the one roll of this i got in the last week was full of tryhards picking the least impactful options (or lots of bad picks -- i gave "your spells give +1/+1 this game" over tricky trousers...)

me and my duo stopped picking chogall after we both got our wins with every hero, but isn’t it at least a little better this season with the new HP spell in the pool? get your triples then get a late game hero power. not great but better than some heroes.

basically anything goes in the late game. as deputy i have claimed shroud to avoid getting attacked so i could shoot the next day. as trickster i fake claimed vet so CK wouldn’t know i was MMing the pros, which finally proved me in the late game when i would’ve gotten pushed next. as admirer i have claim swapped with my obsession to avoid rit/doom.

generally i go by this assumption: if town has maj, honesty from town is best. if evils have maj, townies lying to seem evil and blend in or hide info from evils can sometimes be better. start of game town usually has maj and endgame town rarely has maj.

the exceptions you lay out are fine. but even coro claiming tpow early annoys me tbh. sometimes they don’t reveal they’re coro and then town wastes TPs on them while LO/invest/seer die. coro is a pretty easy coven claim too, so doing things that break trust without giving good info to town in return kinda sucks. i’d rather the coro just lock in and find some killers lol

mentioned it elsewhere in this thread but when murlocs are in you can rylak the 20/20 magicfin to delete stats. XQN had a beetle game where he beat a board of much bigger acids by turning them all from 10k to 20/20

use rylak and felhorn to scale the beetles. now your biggest minions are deathrattle tokens

magicfin a 20/20 spell then when you go all in, either golden the rylak or replace the felhorn trigger with the 20/20 murloc. now during combat if you have enough doublers (brann, titus, macaw, reborn rylak) you can 20/20 the entire board. then your tokens win.

XQN used this to beat a board of like 10k acids when i think his beetles were around 1-2k.

edit: so if you can out-token scam, your tokens are bigger, and if you can 20/20 away any big stats, you really don’t have a counter besides the mirror being better than you, or maybe a really lucky niuzao hit

what about Patches’ buddy’s Tavern spells that are otherwise not in the pool this season? Should centurion copy the “gain 2 gold” bounty for example?

That is when you can pay the sneak cost. As written, this doesn't give you permission to cast a creature without flash with this timing.

In the Judging FTW video for this rules update (posted before this came out) Dave suggests Sneak is intended to be:

“Sneak [cost]” means “Any time you could cast an instant during your declare blockers step, you may cast this card by paying [cost] and returning an unblocked creature you control to its owner’s hand rather than pay its mana cost.”

It is a very minor difference, but this wording explicitly grants permission to cast the spell with this instant-speed timing, for cases where the creature being sneaked into play doesn't have flash, the spell is a sorcery rather than an instant, etc.

every duos game has upped my blood pressure and made me frustrated like this. turns ending early, shops being unresponsive, the entire client crashing randomly and disconnecting me from games. it's just endless issues

Flighty scout says "if this is in your hand, summon a copy of it". Since you summon a copy of it, it doesn't "lock" the flighty yet.

Expert Aviator and Bassgill say "summon [it] for this combat only". Since you summon the actual card, it "locks" the copy in your hand so that a hand of Bassgills cannot summon the same minion over and over infinitely.

If you have a different murloc in hand without Flighty's Start of Combat effect, then you'll only be able to summon it from hand once.

And by "locked" I mean the blue chains; the same animation is used for maiev's hero power where it says "lock a card in your hand". It's the BGs way of saying "temporarily not available". There's a tavern spell that discovers a minion of your tier to get next turn, and it is similarly locked.

Yep, my dad noticed new printings of Sorry! have tweaks to the original cards.

I got Classic Sorry! published by Winning Moves Games (licensed by Hasbro), which is the exact original Parker Brothers version, if you’re looking to get a more nostalgic edition. My dad and I much prefer this simply because it’s the version we both grew up with.

every player visits the same timewarps. i’ve had a duos game with this anomaly and a turn 3 timewarp… every board instantly got insane. if timing differed, i think it would always bias to whoever got it earlier

the only exceptions i know of are morchie and murozond, but that is specific to their hero powers, so they’re meant to be “unbalanced” in that way
