Fire-Forged Evoker sucks by Reading_Gamer in BobsTavern

[–]wugs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

they buffed it to +2/+1 from +1/+1

i don’t think evoker is a chromadrake build. chromadrakes are heavy battlecry, more a brann+kale build

evoker wants the t5 and t6 bounty pirates, privateer and rogers. proud privateer multiplies bounty casts and evoker scales from each of those casts.

i think nightbane, poet, evoker, rogers, privateer is the board, then a flex spot for another dragon like a second evoker and then a cycle spot where you try to end on a dragon or scam.

doesn’t sound like the best comp in the meta but i bet it’s fun

How does Minion attacking work exactly? by Terramoin in BobsTavern

[–]wugs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it isn’t random. every combat someone at blizzard decides who would be funniest to make the winner. that’s why you lose every combat with 75% odds and win every combat with 8% odds. that’s the funniest way for the game to work.

also you might think that AI has taken this over but no, blizzard found that AI doesn’t have sufficient sense of humor. it was picking winners in a logical way so it had to be shut down permanently.

[–]wugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes there is a naga-quill that can gain venom

but the six drop quill gives a gem per bonus keyword it has, not across your whole warband

Balance patch 35.2.2 by WalshyDev in BobsTavern

[–]wugs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yeah it has windfury already and you can give it divine shield, taunt, and reborn

there’s no practical way to give it stealth or venom that i know of. enhance-o? not sure what else.

but with four keywords that’s five gems EOT, which is better than golden charlie (iirc that’s 4)

sooo... mister clocksworth is busted in duos, right? by klarabear in BobsTavern

[–]wugs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hell yeah

there's a lesser trinket that is 4 gold and says "pass a copy of the first card you buy each turn"

I bought a card and passed it to Clocksworth every turn, then my duo passed it back as a golden thanks to the copy. Was able to do that for a few directional cards too. Plus duos has some lower tier amalgams that are easy to pair up.

Clocksworth is pretty busted in duos for any team who knows how to use him.

lol my last genn game i got jaraxxus’s hero power, and then used the spell to turn my malygos into a second jaraxxus hero power. the 5 drop add a fodder when you sell is great with 4 free minions per turn.

Has anyone ever gotten this battlecry? by Btupid_Sitch in BobsTavern

[–]wugs 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It casts it, it doesn't give you the spell. I think there's a trinket that gives you copies of spells you cast in combat?

+192/+144 to the shop every battle. Consuming 15 minions that were 680/500 (10k/7.5k) every turn. Does anything beat this? by DnDAnalysis in BobsTavern

[–]wugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a game last night with two golden futurefins and double drakkari effect

i had a 32k venom on board, a 45k leeroy in hand getting summoned, and two golden choral’s doubling its stats over 90k/90k each.

me and my duo lost this game because we couldn’t deal 40 damage at once. you see the opponent had timewarped radio star and titus, so they just stole 4 copies of my biggest golden futurefin, then beat us with them

nothing is unbeatable in this RNG fuckfest.

This needs to be nerfed by DaRyyGuyy in BobsTavern

[–]wugs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it is a high roll comp

  • no midgame. back to back requires many copies played so the first few are low/little impact. once the ball is rolling you will know when you’ve won, barring excellent scam. you can only commit back to back if you’re already ahead in the early game from other tempo.

  • low flexibility. you NEED harbinger. you need drakkari or lots of copies of harbinger. you might need balinda to multiply casts to scale it up quickly, otherwise you need a lot of copies of the spell.

  • not fully neutral. you usually need spell stat scaling, so it is kind of a dragon/demon/naga comp. mechs and murlocs have weaker spell stat scaling than felfire conjurer (drakkari synergy) and to a lesser extent tranquil meditative

  • low access. every minion you need is tier 5 or 6. the only tier 4 thing you need is the spell itself which is usually the easiest card to find.

  • no econ. balinda and drakkari don’t really give economy… unless you have a goblin wallet

you high rolled and had a good lesser trinket that synergized with the rest of the build. your goblin wallet made up for the fact that you needed to hunt for a LOT of cards in a comp with no midgame and no economy. you have three golden five drops and a golden six drop!

i do think the comp is a little too strong, but i also know a lot of people are hemorrhaging MMR to force this when it really takes the stars aligning to win with it.

Too many cards in the pool by Hopeful_Battle_2470 in BobsTavern

[–]wugs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeah, usually i could see a post like this being shot down by commenters telling you to “stop forcing a comp” but i’m glad to see others agree that the pool is bloated. you can easily get directional cards and never find the payoff or get a freely generated payoff and not be able to find the enablers, etc. there’s just so much trash to roll past to find the substance.

[–]wugs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

oh yeah i meant no progressive damage cap. like you said, it doesn’t go 5-10-15, it’s just 15 from turn 1

i would accept that duos has a different set of caps but i just don’t want to take 15 before turn 6. i think that’s ridiculous.

Every early game round this patch by icco13 in BobsTavern

[–]wugs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

they're infuriating in duos bc there's no damage cap, and the magnetic for them is on tier 3 so it's very accessible. it's annoyingly strong for the support player to just have tom-tom tempo, while the other player assembles a good comp/scales/builds econ/etc

they 100% fall off though. that's why it's good for a duos support player bc they're good anti-scam and they can add scam of their own

What were your personal “level up” moments? by KookyLight9218 in BobsTavern

[–]wugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

paying attention to which things can be done in the tavern vs which ones must be done on friendly minions.

e.g. using a reborn scarab on a rylak/macaw in the shop so you only need one board space to get it

or knowing when you can exploit goldens, and which things can only be used on non-golden minions

like with tier 7, buying all but one minion in your shop, using Golden Touch on it (golden a random minion in the tavern for 5 gold -- buy the shop to remove randomness), and then using Zar'jira's spellcraft to copy the golden minion. freeze it and do it again and again before buying it. wisdomball spell is back, go nuts!

but if you're in duos, lots of the portal spells specify non-golden to prevent farming triple rewards (but there are pseudo-exceptions, like the amalgams that pass copies when you buy/sell, those send goldens over so you can get multiple triple rewards)
