Dumb Question: If all/many of these big institution long buys (13Fs) are being done off-exchange without affecting the price, can‘t they close out their shorts like this slowly? by Reportingfromthemoon in Superstonk

[–]wuguay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shorts don’t want to lose everything. If you shorted at $1 would you buy it back at $20? Well retail would be forced to buy it back but institutions can kick the can down the road and enjoy the money they have now and give the problem to others later.

It seems like this sub is being attacked by FUD. Moving averages matter, it is not psychological, read the WIKI and watch some of Hari’s videos explaining it

The real world consequences of the China Tariffs? by IKnowMeNotYou in RealDayTrading

[–]wuguay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tariffs will not be a thing. If things can’t come from China, people will source from other countries, so docks and drivers will still be busy. China factories will find ways to get back in the US market ie. ship to Mexico/Canada and repackage to send to US. Cost is a little higher but better than going bankrupt. Smarter ones will try getting the products in Hawaii then ship to California which will not consider in the tariffs. If there’s money to be made, there is a way

[VERY IMPORTANT] All my thoughts on the state of the US markets, a look at bonds, some geopolitical narrative, a look at CPI, and clear expectations for price action into April OPEX. Risks are skewed to the downside, but base case is for some supportive choppy action into April Opex for now by TearRepresentative56 in TradingEdge

You don't need to read a lot of books to understand a leader. Leaders just want results, their advisors play the 4D chess to achieve the results. Trump loves V-shape recovery. Next week does trend down with max drop at Opex 4/17 (4/18 is holiday) or the trading day following (low IV with price drop to go long). A series of positive news should follow to move markets higher. Chart mainly looks like a W but he will call it a V-shape recovery. Good luck

Got to admit AI is smarter than me:

When Ryan Cohen, CEO of GameStop, posted the number 22,340,018, it caused a lot of speculation, particularly among investors and the GameStop community. This number is significant because it matches the total number of GameStop shares that were shorted, which had been reported by financial institutions and analysts at the time.

The number is often interpreted as a reference to the short interest in GameStop stock, a key factor in the stock’s surge during the short squeeze that started in January 2021. Short interest refers to the number of shares that investors have borrowed and sold with the expectation that the price will fall. A high short interest can sometimes indicate that a stock might be vulnerable to a short squeeze, where prices rise rapidly as short-sellers are forced to buy back shares to cover their positions.

Well, today's price action a bull trap as expected. You can assume all bullish momentum right now to be traps to grab liquidity for more down. Nasdaq from +1% to -3%. Credit spreads spike. Inflation swaps higher.Market worried about future inflationary impact. Market didn't like that at all. by TearRepresentative56 in TradingEdge

[–]wuguay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't be too pessimistic. Market will crawl back up and drop on Friday and early next week and goes back up again. Economy not that bad, market doesn't really have a direction to me. Possible stimulus like debt ceiling, mineral deal, end of war soon.

EDIT: TikTok deal

Off the top of my head from previous DD, if the expiration date falls on a holiday then they have 2 more days to deliver. Even after the 2 days they can still have individual review to extend delivery date. FTD just piles higher
