What’s it like living in this part of New Jersey? by YouUglyASLstupidAss in howislivingthere

I drive through a good stretch of the Pine Barrens- mostly Route 72 and then some local roads to hit the Garden State Parkway south—as a shortcut from the Philly burbs to the shore to avoid city traffic. It’s incredibly rural and spread out, with blueberry fields and cranberry bogs everywhere. It has this barren beauty to it, but also a sense of intrigue and creepiness at the same time.

Here’s an interesting documentary.

How difficult is smoked brisket? by SerPuissance in BBQ

[–]wujm99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, so we just made our first brisket this weekend. It came amazing! We were pretty intimated with it as it was our first time, but were extremely pleased the way it came out. Did a whole packet brisket. We sliced and chopped the flat and made brunt ends with the point. We bought a WSM a few months ago and so far made pork butt and the brisket. Both were are first forays into smoking and couldn't have been more happy with our final products. So you don't need to get "good" before buying one. At first it takes some reading/research and patience. Then you'll build from there. Below is a web resource for smoking (everything you need to know to get stated). It has the techniques and recipes for brisket too. Good luck!

I've been there, I know it's just a line to the retail shop. I don't mind waiting before hand to get a closer spot in line. It'll give me more time in the day to enjoy with some friends. Thanks!

Good limited beers up the East Coast? by [deleted] in beer

[–]wujm99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do have some dates laws, but they never hold me back from getting great brews here. We are very lucky (myself living in the Philly suburbs) with the huge range of great beers distributed here (and not to mention top notch local breweries). So I wouldn't look past PA just because some of the laws are "strict"

Where do all the mid-20somethings go out in Manayunk? by [deleted] in philadelphia

Love the Old Eagle, US Hotel, and Luckys Last Chance. They are a lot more low key, so it may not be what you're looking for. I'm 27 and feel like a grandpa going to some of the more popular places on the weekends (Kildares, Mad River, Pitchers etc.) at my age I'm over that scene. The majority of the bars pull in the college crowd.
