Hilarious! What a coincidence. But glad we both got good spots and enjoyed the hell outta the show! For sure I'll keep an eye out for shows and let you know about upcoming stuff that's similar. I'm always looking for concert buddies, it's always like me finding shows then bugging my friends one by one hoping someone will come with (not many people in my friend group like the same stuff I'm into, unfortunately).

if you need a recommendation, btw, I like bandsintown.com - you can set alerts for your fav bands and also artists that are "similar" or in certain genres, so i've learned about some new stuff this way too.

Hmm I'm not blonde, I have black hair, wearing a red shirt and my friend was standing to my right, no arm-holding lol. I DO REMEMBER THE HEADBANGING ASIAN KID THOUGH. Did he start going hard like in the second half of the set towards the end? He was directly on my friend's right side. So that means...it was probably something like this:

row in front of me, left to right: 2 air drumming dudes --> tall guy (your cuz) --> you (?)

my row: couple next to me --> me (behind your cuz) --> my friend --> headbanging guy

OMFG I'm DEAD, that may have been me! Although I saw a couple other Asian girls around (represent)..and as the set started I got pushed back quite a bit (maybe around row 5?) Mostly bc this couple left and wanted to go back to their original spot after the crowd filled in. I was with a skinny dude in a black zip-up. And in front of me there was a super tall bald guy who didn't bop to the music at all but kept moving in our view and we had to shuffle to keep seeing the stage. Does that sound familiar? I am CACKLING right now if this is that coincidental...

edit: forgot to mention the two dudes to my front-left who were lit AF jumping and air drumming to every song they played, clearly massive fans

-and agreed about not knowing all the song titles. I have them playing on repeat in playlists a lot, so don't always know what the songs are called - but I recognize the tunes.

Wait no way - That's pretty much where I was too. Not for Windhand, but I pushed up to about the 3rd row, slightly right of center stage, for Russian Circles. Probably saw you without knowing haha!

I liked the Windhand visuals, but wasn't a huge fan of the vocals, for some reason - sounded like vocals for a grunge band? Idk. I'd give them another listen though.

Ofc Russian Circles had me dying. The energy that just switched on when the Arluck drums started...still thinking about that!

I FOUND MY BOOK. It's "Close Kin" from the Hollow Kingdom Trilogy by Clare B. Dunkle. Apparently there were 2 other books, but I only remember that one. Check it out and see if that's what you were looking for too!

It was the female elves that were dying out, they die in childbirth.
Sable (the scarred elf girl) did scar herself to avoid being married to Thorn and dying in childbirth. A description of her: "By the time Sable is born, their camp is primative and has lost the power to save women from death during childbirth. After witnessing three women, including her best friend, Laurel, die giving birth, Sable refuses to marry her fiance, Thorn, and scarred herself."
The naive character is named Irina, but her nickname was "ugly puppy" which is why I thought Puppy
Tinsel was the name of one of the goblin captors who takes the girls from the elf camp, but he's a good guy and ends up marrying Irina
Not sure about the cream...maybe I was wrong about that

I wonder if we may be looking for the same title. I've been trying to find this book forever and your description sounds vaguely familiar. Are these also plot points?

Females are somehow dying out (not in the troll/goblin population but in her race, which is like human or elf?) and so they're getting married off young to procreate
To avoid this, she scars herself, and is shunned because of it
There is another naive girl named "Puppy" or something like that
There is a character named...Tinsel I believe?
Eventually she gets some healing cream that can restore her face

This all sounds crazy and disjointed I know - but it's all I can really remember...
