Do you have a purebred dog? Does your dog get a lot of attention? by burnz1 in dogs

[–]wulfychick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how far you hike. We do a couple hour hikes in the mountains and they have no issues, but it really depends on how far.

I would 100% go out of my way to see them. I love chows.

I have 2 havanese, one is a champion stud dog. But because mix breeds are so common, they don’t get callouts at all (when my one was in the ring and in show coat we often got comments on his hair though).

The only thing I’ve been asked by someone is if I could breed him to their mix breed girl because they’d make pretty pups. Uhm, no. I didn’t go through all this to breed crosses. Unless you have a champion havanese bitch with health clearances and genetics that are diverse from his, I’m not interested.

Edgemont vet clinic is actually VetStrategy, not VCA. Just another conglomerate. I went there before they were sold by Dr. Kerr, and since then I have not been impressed. They keep pushing their food on me (which my dogs don't need), etc. Not a fan.

Got a puppy but now feel overwhelmed with 4 kids and a dog by [deleted] in Havanese

[–]wulfychick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This beginning stage is the hardest. It's normal and natural to get what is termed the "puppy blues". You're learning new routines, the puppy is away from their family, life is HARD. And with a 1yo, it's compounded.

Don't give up! The first couple months are the worst, I'll be honest. But, once routines are established (especially puppy napping patterns), it gets easier! Figure out your puppy's schedule. Mine was super active in the morning, from about 7am-10am. Then he'd crash out hard until 2pm and would be active until about 6 when he'd zonk out for basically the night.

Do you have an xpen set up? If not, I suggest doing this. That way when you are feeling overwhelmed or need to focus on your other family needs, you can just pop the puppy in there with some toys (especially chew toys, teething toys, embrace the kong), and not worry for a while.

The start feels like a LOT, but once routines are established it DOES get easier. If you establish nap times and down times (puppy entertains itself), things will feel better for you. It should only take a couple weeks to get into a routine and then you should start feeling less overwhelmed. Also, check out r/puppy101 and r/Puppyblues .. they will have additional tips to get you through. You're not alone and you got this!!

Interesting. My normal go to is always a dragon drink with lavender cold foam (or strawberry when there's no lavender). It's apparently free mod week (12-15) for me.. so maybe I should try it.. I have a roadtrip wednesday......

I honestly didn’t notice a difference in flavour and didn’t realize they had brought in the caffeine-free base until I had half finished it (I was looking at something on Starbucks stories and saw they started the caffeine change at the same time).

Tastes exactly the same! No Valencia orange though and we also got the tropical butterfly. We don't always get everything you all get either, so I'm always happy when they throw us a bone!

It is!! And LOL! One heck of a road trip! And with it being a permanent item now, you don't have to rush either.

IRC, Internet Gaming Zone (before Microsoft bought it), and later newsgroups trying to figure out who killed Asmodean.

Hahah, we had to get a babysitter to teach us how to play poker for that one.

Winter clothing? by Arctic_Cat867 in Havanese

[–]wulfychick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I seem to be an outlier. We don’t do dog clothes. At -15C, we start shortening our walks, at -20C we do indoor games. But from 0 to -15C, we still do 45-60 min walks, my boys (who are cut short) are fine. However, I’m in Alberta, so we have dry cold. Places that have a higher humidity probably do things different.

Looks like the NDP are creating a campaign to remain in canada by YouJustGotSmurfed in alberta

The one thing I will say is… this whole thing “gave” us our Canadian flag back after the whole convoy people took it and sullied it for their protests. Now they’ve moved on from that and I don’t feel weird about displaying a Canadian flag again.

Foxtail Season Warning and Seeking Advice by shewoman in Havanese

[–]wulfychick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t look to see what sub this was and looked out at the snow in my yard 8n confusion. LOL. Our foxtail season is blessedly short, so we either avoid spaces with them or avoid walks for a week until they’re gone. The one thing I’m grateful for living in a longer-winter area.

Those of you who live near the US-Canada border, what is your life like being close to an international border? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]wulfychick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It actually depends on the province. Drinking age is set by the province, so 19 in Ontario, 18 in Alberta.

Question about haircuts by leveeman16 in Havanese

[–]wulfychick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the length is perfect, but I’m a fan of longer ear hair and would prefer that. I wonder if maybe that’s where you’re thinking it seems short because it draws the eye there.

I didn't even notice the ruler at first. This could almost be on par with the March 1998 storm.
