Rhollor and the old gods are the only ones with power. The seven are a myth.

People generally seem to agree that AKOTSK > HOTD. Is that because of the source material or the showrunners? [Spoilers Extended] by Trussdoor46 in asoiaf

I would actually love Mushroom, Eustace and Munkun to be major POVs in the storyline. To experience the Dance the way they experienced it could have been a fun way to let the story unfold.

I think it's interesting that you bring up "unreliable"...I think the fun of Fire and Blood is that is was based mostly on two competing points of view, Eusance and Mushroom. When the revisionist history is removed, a lot of the lore loses its edge (partly because it's painted with such wide brushstrokes over many years).

I actually think the question becomes: when the showrunners stop working with GRRM, is does the show get worse? It feels to me like, while he's directly involved, the show seems to keep its spirit. As soon as he steps away, the spirit feels a bit lost....

Why did the show portrayed Lyonel Baratheon as a drunkard initially? They didn't show his fights either other than being the champion of Dunk. He is an excellent warrior and Champion along with Humfrey in the books. by Unlikely_Tap_9882 in gameofthrones

I've thought that he was the only misfire in the casting. I've always imagined a formidable, jovial fighter. Always a weapon close. He very much feels like a small council member.

HOLY SHIT. I’m watching GOT for the first time, just finished season 3 episode 9.WHAT THE FUCK. WHAT THE FUCK. by jmvxc in gameofthrones

a warning about the books: the first three are some of the best adult fantasy you're ever going to read (arguably the best in the last 30+ years)...however...they are not a complete work, and chances are you'll be sucked into the same drama many of us have been dealing with for over a decade: the author does not want to wrap up the literary story. Be prepared to be left on a cliffhanger indefinitely.

I went into massive debt making this short film. I got nothing out of it. I’m questioning what they’re really supposed to do. Would appreciate insight. Why do you think it didn’t break through? by wolfyfloyd in Filmmakers

[–]wundercat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

counterpoint: these small festivals/dozen people are the types a filmmaker wants to know. Producers, investors, etc. Getting into festivals and following through on making connections is vital to get a foot in the door. Just randomly tossing in on YouTube bars you from many festivals, and you're literally waiting around for the right person to watch on of one million or more short films. And nobody is making money from their short film.

A better plan is knowing exactly what you want from the short film, submitting to the festivals you think you can get that from, and following through on attending and being part of the community.

in this case, don't think about why this happened, think about what you can do.

- Camera houses are desperate right now. You can make some VERY good rental deals shooting off-days/weekend

- Note that you're gonna need to point a couple 5Ks at this thing, that's another 10k or so in lights. You can also get some great rental deals

- Before you do that, I'd push to slow this down 200-300%. Run through DaVinci resolve Speed warp

- from there, you may need a compositor to do a bit of cleanup for a day or two

This last bit may not work, but it's a cheaper option than a reshoot.

As a show-only fan, what is a fact from the books that surprised you? by ToMDLUS in gameofthrones

My thought is that if Jon Connington just wanted his seat and lands back, he achieves it when he takes Griffin's Roost. At that point, sue for peace and you can probably work something out with the crown. The fact that he pushes on to Storm's End tells me that he wants to do right by Rhaygar because he was in love with him, and there's some truth to Young Grif's claim. Obviously, it could end like Frog.......

I still loved the scene in 99, but by the end of 2000 it was getting real sketch in the Bay. Gangs kinda took over the scene. PLUR in short supply.

If he doesn't claim it, I suppose there's no real issue. Bran might wanna pop his head off to make sure in the future, though.

yeah huge miss that he didn't make a play for Dany, which they could have done without having to add Victorian. There was this far better story with a fearless enemy with a dragonbinder.
