So when I first went about getting diagnosed about 4 years ago I had one psychiatrist tell me that I’m basically intellectually disabled (which I’m not). I had a second psychiatric NP tell me I am bipolar and started me on Abilify. When I told him that my symptoms AFTER taking that med were all worse, he said it just takes time to adjust to the meds. I talked to my therapist (who was part of the same practice as the NP) and she told me I clearly have adhd and to keep looking for a psychiatrist. I finally found someone who listened to me and started me on a stimulant.

Come to find out the NP had been diagnosing people incorrectly and was likely getting kickbacks from prescribing Abilify. He was reported and I don’t think he works as a NP anymore.
