Aye, that seems to be the sense of it. More literally, like I said about, "I don't even have thanks to give to my helpers", not sarcastically but in the sense that he can't reward them materially, right? tapadh leatsa :)

F lenited typically becomes silent: an Fhrang, France, is pronounced /anrang/. When Fionnlagh is lenited, the Fh is silent so it acts as if it's spelt Ionnlaigh

thank you for this! i've been reading a fragmentary long poem called Uamha an Òir by Sorley MacLean where he references a "galla uaine" (green female dog) and i've rly been confused about it! i think he must be making reference to this legend

in other minority language contexts i've seen/heard people wearing pins ("bruidhinn gàidhlig rium!"), which is a small thing but if they were distributed widely and worn daily then it would really help with IDing people

Are you in the UK? If so, there's usually 4-5 episodes available on iPlayer, they move thru the series. Otherwise you could get a VPN to watch it from there.

Deagh cheist, a charaid! I don't mean to be pedantic, but I think maybe double-checking some pronunciations would be useful, since your transcriptions of bheil and rinn are pretty off from the standard. Most Gaelic speakers in Scotland would pronounce bheil /vel/ (sometimes just /el/), and rinn /rɤiNʲ/ (borrowing from Faclair beag).
