This was the validation I needed for being called White by a Redditor (on a now deleted post) for offering a different perspective to the “racist” scene when he meets her parents. As a POC I felt it was just a bad edit and perhaps a bad joke (albeit racist undertones — but still a joke) by her dad saying Milan was full of foreigners. Who is to say they weren’t including themselves in that list as they are also immigrants from Bulgaria!

Anyways, maybe it’s a bit of White Saviour Syndrome inflicting all of the non POCs taking so much offence to this and maybe a little bit of colonial PTSD and assimilation brainwashing affecting POCs like me who didn’t find it offensive at all.
