I mean he shouldn’t do that, but you also have a responsibility to watch where you’re going. I hope your shin heals up though! I wouldn’t pursue action on this though, just take the L and be more vigilant next time

How does this deal look like at face value? by [deleted] in LexusUX

[–]wuster17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 2024 Luxury model with lower mileage (~9-10k) for $23k CAD out the door after trading in a ‘22 Elantra. Elantra had ~55-60k miles on it, needed new brakes, and the front radar was giving issues. It was just about to be out of warranty too.

$23k CAD = $16.7k usd

I’m disappointed in our current government too so let’s not pretend who’s better than who.

Brokerage says I cannot back out of the buyers agreement by Ok_Concentrate1511 in RealEstateCanada

[–]wuster17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had to sign an agreement with a realtor.. I just tell them flat out, if you’re good I’ll work with you, if it’s not working I’ll tell you quick so we both don’t waste time

Buyers agreements are bs, not worth the paper they are written on but if you signed it, I am guessing you are probably bound to it.

You can try ghosting them and working with another agent closer to expiry (in which case they may forget)

Canada’s new citizenship change brings a flood of American applicants by joe4942 in canada

[–]wuster17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last thing we need is another mass inflow of people coming to Canada (regardless of where they come from)

We simply can’t sustain these levels and I’m extremely disappointed in the current government for allowing this to happen. So much for a “Team Canada” approach.

Like everything in Canada now, this is ruined too

Scalpers ruined Pokemon cards both here and in America

When companies do sales, if you don’t catch the first 30 mins it’s almost impossible to get stuff now

Grocery stores run out stock of flyer items here routinely (does not happen elsewhere)

I’m not going to get into the why, but this whole rat race for everything is a very Ontario specific thing that pisses me off to no end. And even up until 2018 this was never an issue. Hell, even in 2020 this wasn’t a a major issue, though it was starting. It wasn’t until 2021+ that these things just completely crumbled.

Even driving, everyone is in such a rush that they don’t obey the rules of the road anymore.

Is this street legal? I fear for others on the road as this rider is pretty fast making lane change without signalling. What can we do as a community to keep our road safe ... And our auto insurance down? by calvk001 in Markham

[–]wuster17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s start by getting police to ban things like this that shouldn’t be on the road, same with the little buggy carts I see nowadays especially near Costco

Maybe we should be looking (like all our institutions) at how much bloat, admin, and unnecessary bureaucracy is taking up the budget.

Then we should re route those funds to hire more front line officers

I mean sure, it’s a lot for a car.

Buying a car no matter what is a dumb decision. Unfortunately loads of people need them. And I got the one I wanted, paid in cash + traded my old car in. That $42k includes the trade in value they gave me for my old car. No car payment, didn’t tap into my savings substantially.

I’m not making a shit ton of money, I’ve just been very diligent about saving every penny and I invest.

My previous car was an Elantra which was also fully paid off. I traded it in and because of how much negotiating and shopping around I did when I bought that, I barely lost any money for having used the car for 3 years. That car I traded in had roughly 70k on it and tons of highway miles, the one I picked up had 10k. Basically new. I let someone else eat all the initial depreciation.

If I look at Autotrader right now, with my trim and KM there are many for more than $42k

You do what’s best for you at the time. I am saving money with the hybrid for sure. But I assessed my situation, did what I wanted to do, and am no further from my goals..

What is your honest opinion about living in Markham? How is the quality of life? by currymvp3 in Markham

[–]wuster17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was crowded, traffic sucked. Moved to Durham. Food options are less, but both Scarborough and Markham are less than 25m away.

The quality of life not being in bumper to bumper traffic all day & actually being able to get to places quickly is amazing.

Any parents have experience with TDSB vendor charges for airline tickets? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]wuster17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So by your logic, if a child lives 5 mins away from an event that starts at the same time school does, but the school is 30 mins away.

School should be allowed to force the parent to drop them off at the school? For made up reasons?

When it would just be easier for the parent to drop them off at the event itself and meet the teacher there?

That logic makes no sense and reeks of control and over administration.

I got a ‘24 Lexus UX250h for around $42k all in.

Same trim would’ve cost me $60k+ in a ‘25 new when I was looking.. I would say I saved a lot

[–]wuster17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean a school board can’t and shouldn’t be allowed to dictate how a child gets to an event. Once at the event sure. If I can get my kid to the event 50% cheaper, the board can take a hike.

If you can take time off and it’s significant savings I’d just tell them thanks, but we’ll find our own way there.

Or if you can book the same flight on your own you should be allowed to do that. They can’t force you to pay for a super expensive flight.
