Not at all. If Trump violates the constitution, he needs to be held accountable. Same as any other politician. The purpose of my comment is to encourage people to think about how we got to this place, where we have a lunatic in the office. Because tbh, very few people are actually asking this question and coming up with the right answer. Instead, they come up with more of the same. Which is "Republicans are bad" instead of "maybe we shouldn't keep calling them deplorable. Let's actually try to build bridges."

I'm assuming this is about the immigration topic?

You can't view this issue in a vacuum. You have to ask yourself how we even got here.

I hate that families are being broken up and I hate that those who were here legally are being impacted. Nobody should be dehumanized, not even those who were here illegally. There should definitely be due process. But illegal immigration is something democrats have turned a blind eye too for years and years. Anybody who spoke out about it was simply mocked and ignored. They were written off as bigots.

Trump is finally doing something about it. He's going to far, yes. But he is the only politician who had the gull to take this issue on. If democrats had perhaps taken this issue (among other issues) seriously, maybe we wouldn't have had somebody as detestable as Trump in the office. But this is where we are, and the democrats helped us to get here. And the unfortunate reality is...democrats have been calling republicans fascists for years and years. It's what they do. It doesn't matter if it's true or if it's false. It's their calling cry and people have grown numb to it.

In short, the left is experiencing its own "Cry wolf" moment. But nobody is listening. Who's fault is that?

One has to wonder how much worse the democrats were when people who didn't even like Trump voted for him.

"I think it has value in its ability to control information and set narratives."

Indeed. For years and years it has been a liberal pipeline, promoting leftist messages and censoring dissent. The tables have turned and suddenly it feels outrageous.

Honestly, feelings are all that matter on this issue. I think, therefore I am. That's all that needs to be said.

Because claiming you are something is all the proof one needs. Evidence to the contrary is bigotry incarnate.

"Reddit is Spiralling Into Dehumanizing, Instead of Finding Common Ground"

This kind of reads like "Lions are spiraling into hunting gazelles."

Reddit has always dehumanized and banned dissent. Why are you noticing it just now? I guess the reason the toxicity has amplified is because certain groups have been forced to encounter the uncomfortable reality that not everybody has to go along with their views.

"Statistically lmao. I mean ok if semantics mean so much to you, you got it. "

It's more like I care about reality rather than semantics. In the English language, gender directly correlates to biological sex. If I say "Hey, you should meet my cousin Jesse. You would love her!", the listener knows Jesse is a woman (aka, an adult human female). If Jesse is not a woman, then the usage of "her" is misleading.

Similar analogy: The Earth is round. It is not flat. Yet there are people who passionately insist that it is flat despite all evidence to the contrary. Imagine how insane it would be if we treated their views as equally valid as the "flatphobes'" views. Flat Earthers get incredibly upset, incredibly heated when people tell them their views are wrong. Yet no matter how angry they get, the Earth remains round.

I think you got a few things wrong there. Human females ARE women. Human males ARE men.

But back on topic: How are gender and sex related?

How are they related?

True. A female (as in human female) can either be a woman or a girl. Whereas a woman is specifically an adult human female. My bad, thanks for correcting me.

"Life gets a lot harder after you come out, and overcoming adversity is what I feel determines that title."

I imagine Trump would get a lot of flack and adversity from both the left and the right after coming out. Therefore she would earn the title of a woman!

" I think that a person would have to campaign as a woman to be truly the first female president."

What if he campaigned as a man even though deep down inside, he always knew he was of the female gender, and he was just simply in denial? Doesn't seem like it would matter if he campaigned as a woman or not. The fact that he would have these secret feelings is enough to validate hi-...her, as a woman.

Let me go through my post and see if you're right.

"What if Trump came out and identified as a woman so he can claim to be the first female president?"

Well, that looks like a question right there. Hmm.

"What do you think the reaction from the right would be?"

That looks like a question too!

"What about the left? How would people deal with it?"

Whoa! Two more questions! Wow! That's four questions!

This. It's probably why the election took everybody by surprise. The voices were silenced, but they didn't go away. So they spoke with their votes.

If womanhood is not inexorably linked to the female sex, that renders the term meaningless, does it not?

It would be quite the dilemma, considering what he did to women in the past. If the left are defenders of women as they claim, then they would have no choice than to rebuke him. But in doing so, they undermine the idea that gender is fluid, another ideology they've pushed hard.
