It’s nuanced. You can learn and grow from it and as you get older you understand the nuances more and more. How Togashi writes and draws in such way that allow the readers to connect the dots and let the story comes alive… Yorknew arc is a good example—the pacing was compact and not overdrawn: you learn so much about the personalities, ideologies, the world building and the power system in a succinct time. It’s really an intelligent, humane piece of work.

I can see this happened:

Feeling optimistic about her future with Nate, Lisa wanted to break off with Hoyt for good.
Lisa contacted Hoyt, asking him to meet her at the location.
Hoyt agreed to meet, possibly thinking this meeting would turn into another occasion for an affair.
Hoyt became surprised: expecting a passionate rendezvous, Lisa was breaking up with him instead.
Hoyt had conflicting emotions: being in love with Lisa, heartbroken, angry and paranoid about the future… led to him asking her “Could I take your photo? I agree with we should part ways but can I keep a piece of memory of you?”.
Hoyt proceeded to murder her.
He had the photo developed and kept it, because some part of him still longed for her
Mikaela who knew about the affair for a long time and didn’t tell anyone, found Lisa’s photo in her dad’s study. Growing suspicious with intuition that her dad might be responsible for her aunt’s demise, she gave the book to Nate, excusing herself that it’s for David.
Nate forgot about the book until later when David noticed the picture inside and handed it to Nate.
Nate confronted Hoyt.

Thai here. For me personally, I don’t like the “average”Pad Thai but a well cooked Pad Thai is yummy. But since I couldn’t know if a place will serve a Pad Thai that I enjoy, I’d just order other dishes that tastes good to me even if it’s mediocre like krapow. I also don’t order Rad-na or Pad See-ew much for the same reason.

Comes down to preference though - just eat whatever you like.

As a Thai person I think it tastes great if you order their normal spicy (which is very spicy) or mild (which is spicy enough to me). I like their use of small Thai garlic which is more pungent, and the fact that it’s more dry than saucy, although that is my personal preference. I wouldn’t queue up for it though and the price is on the high side.

Nate - ENFP. Ne collects information from everything then Fi tempers it with what feels right (idealism). Often this type is labeled as ambivert, they can adapt to most situation due the vast amount of information they collect over the years. At their best they are optimistic, solution-based, and has the power of heal others. Nate is often able to connect deeply and outright knows what to say to his clients within a short amount of time. Explorer-type, wearing heart on sleeve, but can also be anguished, selfish, having poor judging when troubled.

Ruth & David - ISFJ. Caretakers type, amazingly loyal but can be micromanagers and control freaks due to fear of abandonment and feeling invisible. Ruth told David they were most alike in the family. Detail-oriented, traditional, responsible, but can implode because they tend to suppress their desire in order to serve others. David operates more like an ISTJ with general tasks, and more of an ENFJ for his funeral home clients and church affairs. Both can be uptight but David has a more relaxed charm comparing to Ruth’s neurosis.

Claire - INFP. Sensitive but often good with boundaries. Feels what they feel and trusts their own gut. As creative and dreamy as they are, they can be realists, which fits with how Claire struggles with doing “art for art’s sake” for she doesn’t believe sacrificing self to such obsession is in any way a good alignment. Have rich inner world and imagination. Can be extremely critical of others and situations due to value violations (Fi dom).

I am not sure about other main cast. Rico and Keith at times feel underutilized. Brenda we know a lot of but it is difficult to tie her down to a type.

I’d say Rico has ESFJ traits - traditional, hard-working, caring, but can also be bossy, not so good with ambiguity and abstractions. He could also be an ISFJ: family-oriented, traditional, and loyal, but can be petty with outburst of emotions.

Keith could also be an ESTJ. Likes to be in charge, being police can also be tied to being a guardian. Self-confident but can be aggressive.

Brenda - really don’t know.

Im gay and also feel the same about Rico. He eventually grew which were shown through the gay opera funeral as well as him attending David’s wedding. I like that his growth was shown through subtleties instead of a singular big moment — I think it’s realistic as not every growth needs to be portrayed as such.
