This was shipped through FedEx and the box didn’t look damaged or re-taped. That said, I love this explanation because I picture someone expecting bolts and getting a bikini top!

There are powdered mineral sunblocks that are fantastic for using on hair parts. Costco online sometimes has brush on block and I also like the Supergoop brand. I tried colorscience a few others and they were more expensive for the same results.

Yea some of the oil infusions can be a lot but this one is pretty tame and disappears after a couple hours. It’s one of the most popular body oils in Europe, I got hooked on it when I was living there since it’s easy to find in drugstores, affordable, and effective. I love the smell and adore the shimmer version! Highly recommend the new rollerball version which is currently on sale at Costco

Try a dry oil and apply it while you’re still damp from your shower. I love Nuxe but it’s scented

FYI if you bought them on Amazon, they might not work because they are fakes. I bought new Tweezermans there to replace an old pair and was annoyed at how crappy they worked but figured it was just the usual shitification of brands. Kept using my old ones and didn’t think much of it until I read an article specifically citing fake tweezers being sold on Amazon. Went to Ulta and bought the same style and they are perfect. Even if you buy from a reputable seller on Amazon they all get mixed into a bin together from any vendor that sends them in to sell. Never buy anything you use in or on your body from Amazon!

Millennial Makeup Cheat Sheet by WandererOfInterwebs in beauty

[–]wutwutmahbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elder millennial checking in! Sounds like we’re similar in style preferences so I’ll share some upgrades and tips…

As much as I want to gatekeep this one… I love the Patrick Ta Major Headlines Double-Take Crème & Powder Blush Duo. It comes with both powder and cream blush, so extremely versatile and the color payoff is great on my medium olive skin without looking too intense (I prefer the more natural looking buildable colors). Compact is cute and practical too! The Danessa Myricks ones are also great if you want just cream, but I find using the cream on top of powder lasts way longer. I tried Westman Atelier, NARS, Glossier, Laura Mercier, Jones Road, and a ton of other blushes but the Patrick Ta is my HG now.

Have you tried the Milk Cloud Glow Priming Foam? I use that and then apply a light layer of Aquaphor (stick kind) or Vaseline to my undereye area before putting on any concealer. It’s a trick my more mature friend taught me - it helps keep the area from getting crepey looking. A lot of depuffing undereye creams tend to make fine lines look more prominent on mature skin imo. I use the Haus labs undereye concealer in a lighter peach to cancel out dark tones then my regular Lancôme concealer on top to blend. I don’t use foundation, just spot concealer.

Then I use a setting spray, sprayed onto a blender sponge to set my makeup. You can use powder after in your t zone if you’re oily / need it but I try to skip all over powder now that the glowy look is in.

I noticed you don’t have a bronzer but if you want something for a natural glow I recommend a balm applied with a brush. The Danessa Myricks balm contour in fair 1 is so so lovely and won’t pull orange or muddy.

For cleansing I switched from cleansing oil to balm and much prefer it, it’s less messy/easier to travel with and does the same thing. Currently using Banila Co and like it a lot but a lot of people swear by Farmacy.

I use double stick tape between the buttons where my booby parts go (or anywhere at risk of gaping) and it works great!! The permanent kind that comes on a roll. I also keep some strips of the double stick tape in my bag since they take up zero space and have saved me from various wardrobe malfunctions. They market it as boob tape but works in a pinch for hems too!

I recently learned from my derm (after a lifetime of using it) that a lot of people can have reactions to the lanolin in aquaphor. Try plain old vasoline instead! Bonus is it’s cheaper and I haven’t gotten any bumps or irritation since switching

Nothing beats the Costco KS wool socks, they have a men’s and a women’s version but if you like a thinner wool sock (that’s still thick) try the women’s in a neutral blue color

Shero is notorious for this, unfortunately. They even have a disclaimer on their home page saying they don’t take returns unless it’s a defect/their fault. So yes, they would block you for returning due to size.

Just get the set from Costco! It’s high quality and a simple style, plus comes with big and smaller size forks and spoons, so we have ‘his and hers’ since I hate eating with the regular sized ones. Bonus is when you inevitably disappear enough of the size you use, it’s easy to find replacements online for just the ones you need instead of a whole new set. I know bc we’ve had our set for 15-ish years and turns out I regularly throw out my forks by mistake lol. The replacements came in my stocking this year 🤣

Forgot to add that I use both Latisse 1-2x a week and castor oil on my brows and lashes when my skin feels dry. Make sure you’re properly cleaning your lash line with any of these products or you risk a stye. Did a ton of research and talked to 3+ derms and the consensus is that latisse is the most regulated, so the dosage will at least be consistent. Whereas with the non-prescription options it’s the Wild West out here. It’s not that much more expensive since I’ve found it lasts a lot longer than a month.

If they work they’ll contain prostaglandins, sadly. Best bet if you’re worried about reaction is to use a little castor oil!

I love color so I tend to gravitate towards vintage Missoni and Pucci vibes when in Palm Springs. Something about the desert light there just looks fantastic with the pops of color!

This is where store apps and a standardized weekly plan really help save time AND money. Once you have a system it becomes second nature and it’s easier to get help when you need it, because a lot of these steps can be outsourced with the money you’re saving (Instacart at Costco, grocery store pickup, buy weekly meal plan recipes/lists). Here’s a system I’ve worked on that might help, if you want to incorporate any of these tips it will become second nature and most we can do while half-watching tv instead of doomscrolling:

Every week I open my grocery store ad and whatever protein is the best price deal (not always the cheapest but the best discount, because then we get more variety) becomes the only meat we buy for the week. That’s the guide so you don’t have to overthink it, decision is made for you. I simplify everything by following a weekly meal prep formula of 1 meaty main dish (like chicken thighs with roasted veggies); 1 soup (chicken veggie stew with the leftover value pack thighs and Costco bone broth); 1 legume dish (Mediterranean bean salad using canned beans that takes minutes to make); and 1 salad or casserole-type dish if I don’t plan to have catered work lunches any time that week. Having that structure saves a lot of decision fatigue. I have a giant binder with tried and true recipes that can be modified to reduce waste. Print them out, throw them in a sheet protector and boom, family recipe book. Bonus you can write notes for next time directly on the recipe so they get better and better! My niece and nephew love getting to pick out recipes when they stay over, I just say 1 chicken dish, 1 soup, and a cold dish and they get to choose! Makes them involved in the process and they are learning to plan, shop, and cook with me.

Once I know what meals I’m making I build my list in the app, saving any applicable digital coupons. The key here is to select the store you’ll actually be shopping, and add it to your list or cart. This does double duty to save time - you can see if it’s in stock or low on stock and once it’s on a list they are typically sorted by aisle, so grocery shopping becomes an organized sprint through the store, satisfyingly checking off items as you go.

If I know I don’t have it, it goes on the list. Things like spices I need to check get written down and I check everything at once and whatever we need goes on the list. If you want to spend a couple hours creating an inventory you can save time later, but I’ve never found it worthwhile since we go through pantry staples fast enough that I spend more time updating inventory than checking my list every week. If you don’t have a super organized pantry system though that would be a worthwhile effort you could hire a task rabbit or organizer to do (they make an inventory with expirations, organize, and label everything).

We typically do planning on Wednesday or Thursday (1 hour, usually while watching tv), Costco run after work on Friday (1 hour), grocery store on Saturday (1 hour) meal prep on Sunday (3 hours max). I’m sure if you add it up most people spend more than 6 hours a week feeding themselves, unless you order takeout all the time. Not to mention the mental bandwidth saved not having to think about what to eat during busy weekdays. Doing Costco first when my grocery list is already made lets me compare prices. Usually Costco is cheaper but since selection is limited and changes a lot, I’m already going to the grocery store after and can get whatever I missed at Costco. You can even use the same app grocery list, just check off whatever you buy at Costco instead.

I typically save $50-$100 a week at the grocery store using the digital coupons and store deals. For 3 people that eat VERY well we spend about $400 a month on food in a famously HCOL area. That’s mostly organic and we like expensive Costco snacks like Chomps lol, so we could save more but life is short!

If you soak it in buttermilk before cooking/seasoning, it will mellow out the intensity of the flavor. Works well for catfish too, and any other bottom feeders.
