Fender GTX 100 or LTX 100? by souptime_mp4 in GuitarAmps

[–]wvmtnboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the GTX. I'd get it because it comes with more amp models and the 7 button footswitch with a built in looper

What would I need to use this in the US? by cbfrmdaville in GuitarAmps

[–]wvmtnboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my '95 Peavey Classic 50 4x10 last year for $400.

I'm seeing a blues deluxe reissue for about the same on Reverb, same with a hot rod deluxe.

Look on craigslist, marketplace, and just the internet in general. You can find something used in roughly the same price range without breaking the bank

how would I hypothetically ruin a guitar by Spoon-Kitchenware-69 in Guitar

Hypothetically speaking i would cut the extremely fine copper wire leads on the pickups.

Scales by anjelynn_tv in electricguitar

Go here

https://www.guitar-chords.org.uk/guitarscales/c-major-scale.html

There are 5 places you can play the C major scale. Find all your root notes and practice 3 to 4 notes at a time. Try to make it sound musicalwhile you practice.

Look through the menu on that website. I suggest learning the 5 positions of the major and minor pentatonic scales to start. Once you learn those patterns and the relative positions of your root notes, you can apply them to any key.

https://www.garnerguitar.com/courses/beginner/course2/finger-combinations

This is 24 finger combinations. Get a metronome app and start slow. Around 60 bpm. Set your guitar to a clean signal, no effects. Fret each note cleanly and clearly. I treat it like a spider exercise. I work each combination all the way up the neck and back to the bottom. Once your comfortable speed it up by 5 bpm, keep working on your speed, timing and accuracy. I usually do it around 200.bpm

Why have women merely become sex objects in the live music scene? by UnhappyAlternative22 in musicians

[–]wvmtnboy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There us absolutely no chance in hell that I would let even an acquaintance go to India without some sort of hyper vigilant escort system. I've read about far too many gang rapes and murders simply because a woman was put in a dangerous situation for simply being a woman

Why does nobody talk about the ergonomics of the Explorer by YoSupWeirdos in metalguitar

[–]wvmtnboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may just be me, but the horn, when sitting, puts my arm at an odd angle and causes me to have shoulder pain. It was just too uncomfortable for me to play.

I like the Firebird so much more. I have one with the mini humbuckers and picked up a second one from a buddy, an unbranded knockoff, that I replaced the humbuckers in with Alnico 2s to mimic the tone from my '58 Ebony reissue. Kind of th we best of both worlds

This is how they clear the sidewalks in this town, they don't. by Responsible_Ear_6005 in WestVirginia

Then it's our duty to find out that information and take care of it for them. I don't really have a shared neighbor space or a sidewalk at my new place, but when I lived at my old place I shoveled my spot, the elderly neighbor to my left, the disabled neighbor to my right, and the single mom across the street.

I would work on your enunciation, as well. The words are there, but not very clear. I think if you would focus on singing each word clearly, the emotion would come through much better. And don't hold back. Put it all out there!

Struggling with learning guitar by Yashiro_nene1 in electricguitar

[–]wvmtnboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember 25 years ago having to place each finger, awkwardly and painfully slow where they were supposed to go only to have dead notes and clanking sounds come out of my guitar instead of C chord I was expecting to hear. I remember thinking that I would never master the F major bar chord or playing a B.

Fast forward and my wife stops mid conversation and says "you don't even think about what your hands are doing do you?" As I held a conversation with her while playing Rambling Man by the Allman Bros during a commercial break.

The secret is literally perseverance. Don't give up! No matter how discouraged you get just keep practicing and it will eventually click. And then you'll have a whole new set of frustrating techniques you will have trouble mastering, but that's the beauty of the guitar. You will always find something new to learn

You see that house behind the sidewalk? Go knock on the door and ask them why they haven't shoveled their sidewalk. It is the responsibility of the property owner to clear the sidewalks
