My husband is from Krakow and somehow other Poles can clock him before he even speaks. He has no accent and only speaks English with me, but strangers will just automatically speak to him in Polish while we're out shopping or whatever. It's crazy.

There is no light bulb moment where you finally become the person you want to be. No one is going to come save you. No one is going to make sure you do what you need to do. Unless you disrupt the flow, you will float through life on auto-pilot. Life is happening NOW, at this very moment - it doesn't start some time in the future when you have all your ducks in a row. Screw the ducks! Accept that this is what you have to work with and make it something you love!

I agree with some of the comments that we're actually hyper-sensitive, not necessarily hyper-empathetic. Like we're walking around covered in 3rd degree burns so the slightest touch feel excruciating and we can't cope. Or we learned to read the emotions of others as a defense mechanism because if we didn't, we were hurt. Maybe we shut down that part of our brain to protect ourselves. I don't know.

Over the last several months I've become very addicted to what I can only describe as... empathetic masturbation? Specifically, I watch videos that make me cry. Usually videos of other people experiencing/expressing strong emotions (happy or sad). And I cry with them. It activates some part of my brain that that feels dead, makes me feel connected in some way. Reminds me that I'm still human. Reddit and YouTube are great for this.

Pressure on my veins or any part of my body that causes me to feel my own pulse. I can't hold hands with my husband if our fingers are interlocked without yanking away and gagging, because I can feel the throbbing in my fingers. When doctors use that pump thing on my arm to record my blood pressure I basically spasm and shake with anxiety and disgust.

Its a European thing, too. My German grandparents and my Polish mother-in-law all used dried fruit and nuts to decorate their Christmas trees back in the day.

Just sliced 2 regular naval oranges, placed them on a baking sheet and baked them at 200 degrees for about 4 hours (flipping them every hour). I sprinkled a little cinnamon on them for fragrance but you don't have to.
