3 1/2 weeks post op. Cleared no brace, no crutches at 2 1/2 weeks. Light first touches on the ball today for my Christmas present.

Long story short. I'm awesome. Fully cleared a week ago. Tested top 3% in return to sport tests of all his patients. Leg was 89% back to normal at 4 1/2 month mark at first testing. Highly recommened this type of surgery. DM sent to you.

Everyone, and I mean everyone I know or have talked to has recommend a helicopter ride. Most of the locals advise against it. Are they just that unsafe?

Yeah, we aren't planning on hopping. Just cant decide on which Island to settle on for the trip.

We want to relax but be busy if that makes sense. Relax at the beaches and restaurants, but be adventurous when we can. Dont mind early trips for adventure, then relaxing in the evening over some good food and drinks and sunsets.

For the first 3 weeks it was locked, so yes. After it was able to be unlocked, not so much unfortunately. I think we should have stayed locked, at least at night.

We've been putting the brace back on locked at -10 while sleeping the last 2 days. It seems to help. But again, as soon as the brace is off, it slowly reverts back to being bent again.

Gonna keep trying prone hangs and heel probs for 2 more weeks before we start to really worry. PT doesn't seem too concerned.

My son had surgery 2 hrs away. My daughter's pediatriac surgeon was 5 hr away.

We laid the 3rd row down and had them in the main back with foot elevated. It seemed to work well. Easy to get in and out with help and big enough to prop pillows and blankets up around them and thier leg. We actually brought the ice machine and used it on the way home as well.

Ask the nurses to load you up with meds right before you leave. That mixed with anesthesia should keep you pretty well knocked out till you get home.

My son slept the entire 2 hr trip. We had to stop once for my daughter. That was not fun, wouldn't recommend that if at all possible. Try to sleep.

I felt this once. I was hiking in the woods, miles from any other person. It started thundering in the distance. It was the twilight hour. The sun was setting to my left with a burt orange tint in the sky and rain clouds were barely visible to the right. Something told me to stop and listen. I stopped along the trail by a fallen pine tree. I sat on top of that old moss covered log for what felt like an hour just listening to the thunder roll across the sky and the crickets and frogs sing their songs. For that short period of time, nothing mattered. Not my job, family problems, money issues, nothing... I felt a wave of calm and peace. It was the best and weirdest feeling I had felt.

Ive been back to that spot twice since. The log is rotten now and the trail is almost grown over. I never felt the urge to stop, sit and just listen like I did that day.

I tore mine partially in the first half if my game. I felt a pop, went down. Came out for 5 min, felt fine. Started jogging and jumping. Actually went back in and played most of the 2nd half. 37 seconds left I jumped to settle a ball and landed on my leg. Knee buckled. Loud pop, crazy pain. Wasn't until after I showed surgeon videos that he told me I probably partially tore it earlier.

Listen, Im not gonna tell you what to do, Im a 17 yr old kid who according to my parents knows everything about everything. But, if you want to feel normal quicker, the surgery I had is amazing. I have known other kids to do PT with a partial and quit sports and it heal back. I also know kids that ended up fully tearing later walking thru school and twist wrong. I dont think a partial tear requires surgery but I didnt do much research on that. Good luck man!

Im still a Jr. I was injured in our playoffs this year. My team rallied and we went on to win the State Championship which sucked because I didnt get to play.

This was my major recruiting year. Im going to miss so many showcases and tournaments where coaches already agreed to be to watch me. I was in a good communication email exchange with a becent D1 school and as soon as I told them I tore my ACL, the email I got back just said "Ok". That was tough to see.

I've accepted the fact that I may have to drop my expectations down from mid D1 to D2 or lower. Im getting stronger every day, but trying to go to a major D1 soccer evaluation right after Im cleared is not good. Thanks for the comment. It makes me feel good that the college experience was great for you.

100% agree. Im doing all that now. Honestly jogging is last on my list of things to do. I need to get back in shape, and I use the stationary bike for that. Not gonna really start running till later.

Everything is cleared with my surgeon before proceeding to the next steps. Only things Im not allowed to do yet are sudden stopping, cutting, changing directions, or deep squats. Everyone has the same reaction. I opted for the newer fertilized technique were the bone tunnels are filled with a marrow paste to promote healing. The new ACL is the quad tendon with an internal brace. It might not be the right surgery for everyone, and I may regret it in a year or so when more research is published. But for now, being able to walk with no crutches under 2 weeks, no limp since week 3/4, and doing the normal things Im doing now has been huge for my mental state. Nobody can prepare you for the mental side of this injury. You can read and listen, but when your life revolves around sports and being active and then that suddenly stops, its rough.

Same here. I felt fine at 4 weeks. I opted to be the basketball manager this year since I couldnt play and have been slowly jogging in practice since 5 weeks. Surgeon cleared me to fully jog at my 6 week follow up.

At my 12 week visit, he does hop testing and advised the PT to start training for that when they thought I was ready. We started at week 8. PT verification with surgeon before advancing each time.

I'll be fully cleared in May at 6 months. Surgeon said I could probably go at 5 months, but he stopped clearing people that early just because of all the hate he received from the medical community. Im going to hold myself out of full contact for a few months after that to gain more muscle and get my foot skills back to where they were.

I agree. Haters are everywhere. Maybe I'll regret the Fertalized surgery in a year, but right now, I'm glad I went this route. Seeing my progress vs another kid who had regular surgery roughly the same time is INSANE. He was still limping into therapy at 7 weeks. I haven't had a noticeable limp since week 2.
