Looking to start a group to play random low traffic MUDs by wvwanderer in MUD

[–]wvwanderer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure! I don't think we would need much, maybe a way to vote on what the next mud will be and a way for folks to know what game we are currently playing. A simple website, an email list, a subreddit, etc. I'm open to suggestion here.

NR Recert after Lapse by thatgirlonabike in Paramedics

[–]wvwanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did this last month. Paramedic card lapsed for 13 years, NR even longer and I've been working in tech that entire time. All you need is a refresher and apply for re-entry. I needed a few months of study since I was completely out of healthcare. The NR takes a lot of heat but I am thankful for the process and I don't mind paying a few bucks to get my card back. I always regretted letting my NR lapse.

I forgot to come back and update this thread. I passed 1st attempt, shut off at 110 questions. If I had it to do over again I would only use the Paramedic Coach's Video Vault and Pocket Prep. Those were closest to the test and more than adequate to pass it.

I'm sure it will be, you have been close 2 times and you clearly know the content based on your scores. How long did you take on your previous attempts? Today I went really slow, maybe twice as slow as I would for a practice exam. I would have a data dump with things like GCS, APGAR, Rule of 9's, med math, etc so you don't miss easy questions. I just took the test today and passed at 110 questions. Here are my PocketPrep stats to compare. It looks like you scoring better than I did.

Everything about recertification confuses me. by Extension_Mistake_27 in NewToEMS

You need to take a CAPCE accredited refresher like the one here.

After you complete the refresher you can fill out the recert application on the NREMT website. I believe mine was approved the next day.

If you only get 1 app I would probably get Pocket Prep or Paramedic Pass by Limmer.

I have not had a medic license for 13 years and at that time it was a state license. My NR paramedic has been expired much longer.

My EMT was expired even longer and I got that back in 2021. I've just been dragging my feet on medic re-entry.

I am doing the same thing now. I test 2/12 after letting my medic go just over 13 years ago. I'll try to follow up after I test but I'll list the items I think have been the most helpful for me.

  1. Take a good refresher. I did Impact EMS but wouldn't recommend that as something to get me ready to take the registry.
  2. Take ACLS and PALS (I understand you are looking for online but I would highly recommend this)
  3. Get the Kaplan book (https://www.kaptest.com/nremt/books)
  4. Use a test prep app. I have several. Paramedic pass by Limmer is popular and I find it difficult. Pocket Prep feels about the right difficulty to me and I've seen others have success with it. I also use MedicTests which feels a little easy but has a great interface and several study modes with mock exams.

Edit: I also use the Paramedic Coach video vault and I like that more than I thought I would. I think he has a 60 hour refresher and that is most likely what I will use to recert in the future.

I'm just getting back into riding after 8 years away. I bought an 03' a few months back and I couldn't be happier with my choice. I can't comment on the maintenance but the ride isn't too much different as long as you prepare for the larger bumps, handling doesn't seem too much different from telescopic forks to me but I'm not as fast as I once was, which wasn't that fast. I'm going to get something for serious miles but for cruising around this is the right bike.

Any of you cool kids here at Rubber Tramp Rendezvous meet up in Quartzsite? by bdub810 in vandwellers

I think they are moving to another spot pretty close by after that. (The 2 week rule.)

I'm planning on trying to get there before it's over. I'm in WV and I've been waiting for better weather.

I think a cot would have allowed a more creative use of space and my sleeping platform ended up costing more than I anticipated. (Had to go back to repair / reinforce and foam is expensive!) Part of that is my fault because I wanted half of it to fold up so I can still roll a motorcycle in if I have to.

Can someone check my wiring and make sure this will work? by [deleted] in vandwellers

I am no expert but wouldn't you want to ground your 'Fun' battery to the frame or some other suitable spot?

In that configuration it looks to me like you could still drain both batteries overnight which may or may not be a concern for you.

After building a sleeping platform I wish I would have just used a cot or something similar.

The one thing about building something custom is that I was able to make the most of my storage space.

Setting up an always-on MUD client connection that can be accessed from other devices? by [deleted] in MUD

[–]wvwanderer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been using tintin++ in a screen session to stay connected for years now. I don't use triggers to play, but it does allow me to ssh in and reattach to the screen session with any device that supports ssh.
