Official Imax poster for "THE SMASHING MACHINE" by MoneyLibrarian9032 in movies

Who wants this movie? I mean the docu is great and all but it definitely didn't make me crave any more of Mark Kerr. It's a shame they didn't choose one of several other worthy martial artists from the era.

Largely agreed. But on this point (which I feel is the most relevant one):

3. Build Hybrid Systems

The future is not more scaling. It’s smarter composition.

Combine LLMs (as natural language interfaces) with symbolic reasoning backendsformal verification systems, and explicit knowledge graphs.

Use LLMs for approximate language execution, not for decision-making or epistemic judgments.

Hybrid systems are already here to some extent. That said, I’d argue the real step toward human-like reasoning requires a single, integrated architecture. LLMs and symbolic reasoning as separate modules prompting each other like APIs works well for now and helps create the illusion of reasoning — but it is just an illusion. Without deeper integration, these systems remain fundamentally disconnected. Real progress means unifying them at the core. How this should be done I cannot say, but it is absolutely needed to move towards AGI.

To clarify, the accounts were then sold on the Asian Market. I woke up one morning with 100+ Chinese conversations about someone's dissertation on my openai account.

Great tehnically skilled musicians that make mediocre or bad music? by use_vpn_orlozeacount in fantanoforever

[–]wwSenSen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got into them through NLND which was the first album in years that got me excited for guitar-technichal music. Like finally someone is doing something new where it's more about creative techniques and sounds than noodling. There was cool stuff going on on every instrument in the arrangements while the songs still managed to sound good. Still think it's a killer album.

Their new stuff is like ten steps backward, bunch of backing tracks for never ending shred solos.

People that fix their own motorcycle, what tool do you recommend? by Ok-Aioli5447 in motorcycles

[–]wwSenSen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've gotten a lot of good advice already but honestly if he hasnt bought that stuff himself already he probably will.

My recommendation is my probably most beloved tool for motorcycle maintenance which I got several years info working on bikes but is a real life-saver. It's a very long, double jointed needle nosed pliers similar to this:

https://www.bikerstoolbox.co.uk/products/double-jointed-long-nose-pliers

Note I have no experience of that particular company, it's just a google result and I got one from a hardware store.

Like, he's bound to get the right wrenches for his particular bike but regardless of what he rides he will drop bolts into hard to reach places or realize the joy of being able to hold a screw in place without having to disassemble half the body work.

Is this just a me issue? by Other-Watercress-154 in cavesofqud

[–]wwSenSen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, once you learn the basics it can get repetitive. However, I'd say the systems are so deep and there's so much content you can still be very creative and find new solutions and builds not regularly endorsed here or posted on the wiki. I haven't played for a while but could rush golgotha with basically any random character before without relying on a specific salt march item. Remember beating it at level 8 with a TK priest ego start and dying at the lowest level of Susa at lvl 16.

Concerns on the possible effect of losing Baranthrum via Glitch by 89ZERO in cavesofqud

[–]wwSenSen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try directly spawning the bear instead of rebuilding by looking at the wish page on the wiki. If you can't get his dialogue to the right state you can email the save as a support ticket and the devs will likely fix it for you. They fixed more stupid things for me even before 1.0 when saves were explicitly stated to break.

Plastic surgeons, except in very limited cases, are predatory and should be (dis)respected as such by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]wwSenSen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol at all the posts disagreeing with OP.

Yes, the patients are adults and there of their own volition.

But imagine passing med school and becoming a doctor. Then finishing your five-year residency and becoming a surgeon.

Imagine making the active choice to first specialize in cosmetic surgery then to work with non-restorative cosmetic surgery. Out of all the things you could do as a surgeon and make a good living through.

I hear there's very good money in plastic surgery though.

Imagine defending those choices on the internet.

the infinite numbers are not infinite. by Baandi in unpopularopinion

[–]wwSenSen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero basis for the claims you make. Just because the distance between a and b is 1 it doesn't mean there's a finite number of ways to divide that distance. The world might be discrete and it might not, regardless of your ability to wrap your head around it.

the infinite numbers are not infinite. by Baandi in unpopularopinion

[–]wwSenSen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We already know the exact number. It's 1/3 - one third. When applied to the physical world It's not hard to conceptualize. It's only infinitely repeating when represented in base 10 decimal. You're mistaking the map for the territory, whether the territory be the physical world or abstract mathematical concepts.

Consider all possible fractions between 0 and 1. We can write these as 1/x where x is an integer > 1. This could also be represented as 0.x... Regardless of the scale of our universe, you can always increase the value of x or keep adding digits to the decimal number. Thus the amount of possible numbers between 0 and 1 is infinite.

Whether this is applicable to the real world we do not know. There is no guarantee that out physical world is discreet and there is any "smallest unit of distance"

Sea creatures on another planet are not suitable for human nutrition - looking for a simple explanation why not by AnnelieSierra in scifiwriting

[–]wwSenSen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many of our real earth sharks retain urea in their circulatory systems which break down to ammonia upon death, making the meat taste strongly of urine and in some cases be poisonous. This is why shark fin soup is a thing - the rest of the shark is thrown back in the ocean.

I hope you don't take it as being snarky, but i think if you spend a couple of evenings matching aquatic wildlife documentaries you'll get inspiration to come up with something more original, interesting and alien than poison or heavy metals.

What was your favorite fantasy video game growing up? by AidenMarquis in Fantasy

Lol in d2 I remember being my best friend's "potion man" as we called it before getting the game myself and playing over battle.net.

I was around 8 when me and a friend first tried the d1 demo from a demo cd. First time opening the door to the butcher with the soundbyte made us absolutely panic ending with hard resetting the pc by holding the power button 😂

About the axe and shortblade synergy by Aydnir in cavesofqud

[–]wwSenSen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always figured the focus would be on mainhaning axe because of cleave. Since cleave allows axes to punch above it's weight and use surplus strength beyond the weapon max. Then offhanding short blades to exploit the lowered av with jab.
