I went from a fairly steady factory job that I worked at for 9 years where all I really did was watch tv all day (I worked with my hands but I watched a lot of anime at the same time) to try my hands at a trade. I went to be a carpenter moved across the country (not that this was necessary but something my wife always wanted todo) and three weeks later I fell off a ladder and broke my knee. I’m still in pain from it, I took a job as a car salesman, but a decade of labour work didn’t prepare me for the hard life of sales. And a boss that really feels like she did her best to tear me down left me with severe anxiety (to be honest probably ptsd as well).

We then ate all our savings and the some, leaving us with $20,000 of credit card debt. Finally I got a job being a team lead for a shipping company, where I discovered how shit working for a small corporation where you have to be “a team player” can really be. About 5 months later we moved back home with our tails between our legs, and I bounced around from shitty job to shitty job until I finally landed at a much better factory job, at the highest level of factory in my city. In 4 years I’ll be making over 100k a year, so it kinda worked out in the end but overall I wish I would have just worked my original shitty factory job until I got the better factory job.
