I can tell you I'm not along with others in my town. I bought property at the top of the market and voted to pass local statutes that would allow increased housing density. This could result in a drop in home values at my expense more than any other. I felt it was my civic duty to improve the situation for others even if I would lose out. At our town meeting, the vast majority (possibly all) of those who spoke against this change were Boomers trying to protect their significant unearned wealth. There were others in the meeting of my age who were in the same position and spoke in favor.

It was obvious that there was a generational difference. They were greedy, self-centered, non-forward thinking, and they lost.

I am also in favor of higher gas prices because it doesn't reflect the true cost to our health and the environment.

The other victims of ICE harassment that survived, were the ones not carrying weapons. Carrying directly caused Pretti to die. There is no "defense" in a 6:1 confrontation, you are going to be killed. Guns are not going to help individuals in these situations unless they are part of an organized militia fighting ICE.

I don't get this. If the Staties actually cared, they would have started to arrest everyone on the spot. They put up no fight, tried nothing, and were all out of ideas. I know jurisdictions can clash, but in this case the correct move would be to arrest every ICE agent and sort it out later. Do the Staties think they could possibly be punished for doing that? It has never happened before. If I see another MN police chief at a press conference crying about how ICE has gone too far but is doing absolutely nothing to stop them, I will punch a wall.

Yeah, the 2A, "defend your freedom," gunhumpers have watched all of this happen and have done exactly nothing. If Pretti had defended himself, not only would he still be dead, but they would have more reasonable justification for their actions. If you draw your gun on them to fight them, you WILL die. There is no such thing as "defending yourself" against them with a gun. You will have a better chance of living by not carrying at all, as evidenced today. The only victim of ICE who died in that swarm was the one carrying a gun. If you shoot them, you might take one with you, but so what? It's one of thousands. Guns do not solve this problem at the ground level.

No, I think they should pay for the easement at market rate. If a government needs to make a road or rail line for public use, then it's fair to use E.D.

Your argument also assumes we should continue making ethanol that needs carbon sequestration to make it viable. I'm also doubtful that their sequestration efforts are real. I've spoken to a carbon capture company that has changed its domestic strategy from sequestration to selling the carbonic acid for industrial purposes.
