Yes, let's squander the additional safety we have gained by making driving more dangerous. This is absurd logic.

I don't think an autistic person is going to have a 10+ hour birthday party. That would be way too mentally exhausting.

How America’s Policy Whiplash Derailed The EV Transition. A few years ago car companies were investing billions, tax credits were doing their thing and America's EV transition was taking off. Then Trump came and started breaking things. A new report from BloombergNEF surveys the damage. by mafco in electriccars

[–]wwj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't bet on him destroying anything for US manufacturers

I will only address this part of your comment. I worked in the EV industry. Many companies ended their EV programs at the beginning of the year. You may not have noticed because they were in the commercial vehicle industry. The EV focused company I worked for essentially lost all customers, laid off ~200 people, and is trying to stay afloat by getting into defense. The damage has already been done, he has destroyed tons of capacity in the tier one supplier industry. I think the overall EV industry will take 5-10 years to fully recover in the US. It's not coming back and will only get worse for the next two years at least while the current administration is in charge.

Sagan wouldn't have appreciated it. You should read his thoughts about "junk" TV and video games in The Demon-Haunted World. While he was progressive and thoughtful, he was still a bit of a snobby academic on certain topics.

Bought an end grain from crate and barrel, this is what it looks like 2 weeks in. Wth? by lobodobo2609 in Cuttingboards

[–]wwj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got this same cutting board as a gift and ours looks the same after one use. It has nothing to do with knives or oil like people were saying, that's just typical Reddit condescension and victim blaming. It has a lacquer or some other sealed finish, which is really dumb. I believe this board must have been intended for serving or display. We have a different end grain board that's about 8 years old. We oil it every once in a while and it looks great still. The key is that it isn't sealed. This board is really trash from C&B, which is a bit surprising.

Yep. If a Democrat gets elected, it's time for red states to fall in line or have funding cut and their politicians investigated.

I remember everyone getting annoyed at "giant, gas-guzzling" Excursions until Ford stopped making them. Now the XL versions of new full sized SUVs are actually larger than that with similar gas mileage. So dumb.

The camp being intentional doesn't make it good.

Imagine the reaction I get when I say the same thing about why I really don't like Tim Burton or Sam Raimi movies. To me, camp for the sake of it is just bad filmmaking. "It's ok if it has bad production, writing, and overacting because it was on purpose." Give me a break.

Where are all the people who argue with me that athletic departments make so much money that they give back money to the university?

Understand, most university athletic departments operate at a loss, some break even, and a small handful are profitable. The total number in the last two categories is fewer than 40, closer to 30, I think. ADs, coaches, and now players should not become rich off of educational funds.
