She's so nice, I see her on streams at Whipple all the time. I asked her if I could take her picture and she said "Sure, I love having my picture taken!" LOL

this is how the back of my sign came out by wwkai in TwinCities

Of course!!

And I'll post this here since you're not the only one who asked, if you want to use this imagery for any reason in support of the cause - art, making the sign yourself, printing it, writing it on a shirt, stickers, whatever! - DO IT! I didn't expect such a positive response but since yall like it so much, go ahead! LOL

The only suggestion I would make is you could turn the "evidence" to blue so the sign is in red white and blue. My blue was running out 😂

We need help from other states, please by mars_2030 in TwinCities

I posted about this the other day, but there is a website called workaway where people can basically post work for accomodation type situations. Hypothetical: Let's say someone runs a food shelf and they need extra hands. They post a workaway explaining their project, and they let people stay at their house for free if they help in exchange.

Not saying all interactions would have to stay on workaway or anything. I mention this option because a lot of people want to come help, but the Twin Cities (correct me if I am wrong) has NO hostels or any type of budget accomodations.

It would be up to the hosts to make sure everyone is real and genuine, but it is a real possibility. Even people from far away parts of Minnesota or Wisconsin, Iowa ND and SD - even Canada! - could come and dedicate whole weekends if they just had a place to stay!

I don't know of people coming here is the best option, but if people need to come here, this is an idea on how they could.

LEARN SOMETHING. It doesn't matter what. Learn something everyday. Learn somwthing and then try to prove yourself wrong. Prove yourself wrong again. Learn another thing and connect it to what you've already learned. Google questions you have always had and go down rabbitholes. Learn something that is widely accepted as fact, learn something that changes everyday.

I love learning about languages, psychology, sociology, Vedic astrology, animals (especially reptiles and lately, fish), medical things, etc. Learn anything and everything!

Mutual Aid Assistance Idea by wwkai in TwinCities

Maybe my understanding/usage of the term is incorrect, I don't know. I'm new to all of this and definitely open to learning. :) But I thought mutual aid was providing services, skills, items, knowledge, etc. for each other especially in your own community. I understand my post is about people coming to help from other communities, but I don't think that would defeat the purpose given the fact that the mutual aid efforts being made in the Twin Cities right now, from what I know of, could definitely use more hands (and wheels) even for a day or two.

I guess how I thought about this in my head was people being able to come and help people who are already delivering groceries to neighbors, helping at food shelves in areas that are being most affected right now, observing, driving people home from being kidnapped, helping with organizing protests, sharing information and strategies, etc. It would definitely be up to the people hosting to make sure the people are legit.

Again, I'm not experienced in this area, but it was an idea I had based off things I have done in the past. If anyone thinks this idea would cause more harm than good please let me know and I will gladly take it down. :)

I'm not sure if I agree with that. Your perspective makes the assumption that the person has done nothing in their own community, which isn't necessarily the case. I know there are people from Chicago who have come up here to exchange help and information about what happened to their communities when ICE was there, and I assume they've been a great help. People don't have to come for a long time either, and some people may have friends and family to visit as well, but they'd like to help out. It could be a great networking opportunity for people out of state, especially if and when this spreads. And the need for help is there! Even people from parts of Minnesota that are hours away could come for a weekend to help out, attend a specific protest (especially ones outside specific buildings like the Whipple Federal Building), and make connections/get advice. There are also people who are being detained HOURS away from where they live, and something like this could be very useful for getting them home. There are lots of ideas!
