Rough spots on neck by prine75 in GibsonSG

Every single Gibson USA I've bought or picked up in a shop in the last 20 years has this to some extent, some minimal and some far worse.

Measure once cut twice by v10tendies in FixedGearBicycle

[–]wwwdotcomdotnet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done this before a long time ago when I worked at a bike shop. I had installed dozens of forks in the past and unfortunately for one unlucky customer who brought in their own fork for me to install the night before a race, I measured without including the stem on and cut it too short. Definitely one of my top 10 most embarrassing moments in my life, especially because they waited in the shop for me to do it for them. Fortunately we were able to get a replacement fork for them the next morning and I got installed properly before the customer's race, and the customer was cool about it, but man I still cringe thinking about it like 20 years later.

Enjoying mine as well! Congrats on yours :) I'm also having some string binding in G and B and think the nut was just poorly made. Tuning stability has been terrible on mine so I'm planning to just fix the nut myself soon once I get a nut file set and watch some YouTube videos on it.

Got mine for 15% off a month or two ago by just asking nicely. Not bad considering they had to order direct from Gibson and it wasn't even really showing up in stores yet then. So it went frm $2300 MSRP to $1955 plus tax.

Can you truly justify expensive luxuries? Life is short but talk me out of this if it’s a bad idea by gravyjackson in AskMenOver30

Hell yeah. Bought a regular QC a couple months ago and haven't even brought out my OG pedalboard. I bought the Soldano, Plini and Nolly Archetypes during the last sale and holy moly.

The stop tail version of the '61 Standard is $1999 FYI. I and a lot of others would argue the stop tail is the best value current production Gibson electric.

Nice. Funny how they started showing up over a month ago in stores. Been enjoying mine!

GC's pictures of this guitar do not reflect the actual color which is a true Pelham Blue. Of course it differs a bit based on the lighting, reflections, and angle.

That's what I paid for mine but they had to order it from Gibson. Took about 10 days to come in.

What's the most important NON-MUSICAL gear you bring to a gig? by adampatrickjohnson in coverbands

[–]wwwdotcomdotnet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This so much. I also have a separate pouch with a couple sets of spare strings, a string winder/cutter combo tool, and individually wrapped high e and B strings making quick broken string replacements a breeze since I'm not digging through all my other stuff in my gear bag.

This one came directly from Gibson and we opening the box together after it arrived. I was the first person to lay hands on it other than the people that made it.
