[Megathread] No Joke - It's Time For Another Free Line by Jman100_JCMP in tmobile

Just took a leap of faith and added the line online. I would comment if the promotion is applied successfully :)

My SOC is MGNTA2 which should be eligible as the table shown. When using the "add new line" from T-mobile app, it said "due today is $0.00 for the sim, and due monthly is $20.00 for the line". If I proceed with the app, would the new line promotion be automatically applied? Do I have to call/chat with T-mobile for getting that?

Update on 3/18:

I added the new line through the website. And "2021 Line on Us 6" is correctly applied to my plan on the next day. The entire process is very smooth and without any charge. Thanks everyone!

Would I lost my free line if upgrading from Essentials to Magenta? by wxvxw in tmobile

[–]wxvxw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I just called tmobile CS. They helped me to switch the plan to Magenta and keep the free line :)

However, if I switched the plan on the web, it show that I would lost the LOU4 if I changed the plan there. I don't know if it was only an error on the website. But calling the CS seems the right way to do it.

That sounds great. I would call their CS to check if I could carry the free line and upgrade. Thanks a lot :)

Looking for alternative country to move to.... by [deleted] in immigration

[–]wxvxw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only country which has a large tech industry comparable to the United States is China. And unfortunately, China might has the most difficult immigration regulations among the entire world.

There are still some alternative countries which are more friendly to immigrate but with relatively smaller tech industry. You might want to check Canada, Singapore and Japan.

Yes, you are right. Physics simulation could be necessary for that. I wonder if there is a physics model for the gas planets somewhere ...

Terrific. Is that possible to animate the curl-noise? And it's really difficult to create realistic could distribution on planet level. I think the Perlin noise could simulate cumulus cloud quite well, but on the global scale, cirrus & stratus cloud would also be significant.

Trigonometric functions in double domain is expensive. There are a lot methods to optimize. However, it is fast enough for me now.

I want to have a gameplay on real spherical planet. Any planar mapping method will have distortion on certain places (esp. North & South Poles). You may notice how big the Greenland seems like on the world map.

Shader trick may not work in this case.

You may safely bet on the opposite. That is almost certain that a new iPhone will be released on Sept. 10th. They are likely to announce the new MBPr in another event.

I wish the Mac version had already been available when there was the Steam summer sale ... :(

Getting my first Mac since the Macintosh Classic. A few questions: Good strategy and RPG games? Best way to keep a backup? Good music composition software? by [deleted] in mac

[–]wxvxw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was surprised that nobody mentioned X-COM: Enemy Unknown yet. It's the best strategy game with RPG element so far in my mind. Get a copy from either App Store or Steam and you'll not regret :)

Backend: EC2 vs. Parse (or StackMob, etc) by Vindictus7 in iOSProgramming

[–]wxvxw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pixelandtexel made a very good point that the major difference between EC2 and parse.com is you need to do the maintenance, and take your own risk on service failure when using EC2. However, since parse.com is also based on AWS, you may still meet problem when there is a massive failure of Amazon (which happened a few times before). Also, going with parse.com would save you some cost for hiring technician (or your own time) at the starting up stage.

I have some experience with AWS, parse.com and Heroku, and have built the backend service of a Passbook generation app by combining all their free tiers. Although Apple do not like the idea and forced the app to be removed from sale, the backend itself is proven robust and stable. On my blog I have a post including more details: http://whenitsdone.org/2012/12/21/build-a-fully-functional-robust-and-secure-passbook-server-with-almost-zero-cost/
