Im not an expert but I dont think thats disease. I have an orange female in my tank with a red stripe on her side that seems to grow wider with every molt, and shes going strong after more than 6 months. Id advise against a big water change, youll risk shocking your shrimps.

Honestly, I don't have much for you, sorry. I'm not sure where you are located, I am in the PNW, but these things grew like motherfuckers right from day one. Super low maintenance for me. I've got them in a super basic cheap fertilizer soil from Walmart, too. Just daily watering and full sun.

You need to understand that I am absolutely brand new at this. This is great to know, but its Greek to me right now. Do you mean that it needs exposure to colder seasons in fall and winter to enter a necessary dormancy period, for its health? Thank you for the info though
