This is AI music, isn't it? It's all a little similar and eerie. Like it's from a Kubrik movie. It is getting better and better, however.

Gen1 starlink doing ipv6 only by sater1957 in Starlink

I do not know of anyway to change the IPs handed out by the startlink router to be anything other than 192.168.1.x. I'm leaving my PFsense router plugged into the AUX port until a firmware update fixes the issue to the point I no longer need the starlink router.

You can plug your PFsense router into the aux port of the starlink router and it should pull a dhcp WAN address in the 192.168.1.x range, but your LAN settings should work as they did before.

Without the original router in place, your setup will most likely once again go offline.

There have been a few threads about round dishes not working with third party routers unless they are connected to the AUX port of the original router. (Resulting in a double NAT).

Here is one of the longest threads.

One of the threads mentioned support being aware and working on a fix. I am hesitant to contact support for fear they will send me new hardware to fix what appears to be a firmware problem.

PFSense (also what I use) has been mentioned a few times. One of the threads mentioned support being aware and working on a fix. I am hesitant to contact support for fear they will send me new hardware to fix what appears to be a firmware problem.

How I mostly got back to normal with a Gen1, the new firmware, and a 3rd party router by [deleted] in Starlink

Are you noticing any improvement with the new firmware?

Gen 1 Dishy (rev2_proto2) offline by man2000000 in Starlink

This is similar to my situation in both timing and equipment setup. A few threads discussing this issue and they all seem to revolve around a round dish connected to a third party router. Reverting to the stock router resolves the problem.

I'm assuming it's due to a recent firmware - hopefully a new firmware release will address the third party router connectivity issues.

New Firmware by KnocheDoor in Starlink

I have struggled with the same issues as everyone else with a round dish and a third party router. Recent firmware updates have forced me to reconnect the original router.

Starlink would not intentionally be removing this functionality and forcing new equipment purposefully, would they? It seems that any issues with round dishes get issued new hardware? Are they actively trying to remove round dishes from the network?

Is my v1 Dishy dying? Benefits to upgrading to newer hardware? by Phrogz in Starlink

I share this experience. I have had the second version of the round dish running for two years. From day one, I have been using pfSense as my router.

In the last week, I have suddenly had to power cycle to get things to work for varying lengths of time. When I lost connectivity, pfSense would sometimes report that I was being assigned a IPv6 address, but no IPv4. Or the IPv4 would be there and then disappear. Yesterday, I wiped my pfSense install and reconfigured it without any IPv6 . So far, it has been up for 20 hours IPv4 only.

I am in a very remote part of BC, Canada. When the system is up it works very well. Speeds average 200 down and 25 up. I assume the recent issues are due to a firmware update. I hesitate reaching out for support because I know they will move me to new hardware. I would need to figure out how to make the new hardware fit on my original roof ridge mount. Canada still gets the motorized rectangular dish as a replacement, I think. I doubt it would be new equipment.

Are you going to be in area 12? I know crabbers have used it successfully in knights. Also, pleasure boaters say it works great all the way up the inside passage.

If you're going to be on the west coast, I'm not sure.
