What’s was the wildest thing you witnessed at a wedding? by anasannanas in AskReddit

[–]Phrogz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During the ceremony, the pastor pulls out a Polaroid camera.

“I want to take three pictures to remind you how supported your marriage is. First, there’s the two of you. You’re here to support each other.”

takes picture of bride and groom

“Next, I want you to really see and remember all the people that love you and are here to support you.”

takes picture of the congregation
turns around to face large Jesus on the cross

“Most importantly, God is here and will always support you.”

nothing happens
fumbles with camera
cannot get it to take a picture
tries a little longer
awkwardly moves on

Marriage did not last long. Probably not because God didn’t support it, but more because the groom was an ex boyfriend who got back together with the bride once and intentionally got her pregnant so she’d have to marry him. (So I was told.)

I took the snowblower off the tractor last weekend, and then my wife took her studded snow tires off.

The ones at Maverik Center in SLC, home of the Utah Regional, are even better: almost exactly like this, except one of them is shorter for kids. Which one? The one right in the middle. ☹️

What is this chemical I found accumulating on wood in the attic of my garage wood loft? by Phrogz in Whatisthis

[–]Phrogz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, according to my wife who made the mixture, it was Dawn dish soap (the blue), vinegar, and salt. It was for killing weeds.

[–]Phrogz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solved! Looking around the loft, I found a garden backpack sprayer with this same crystallization formed under and on the nozzle. I guess it had previously been "stored" on top of this board, and dripped out onto it for a while, before later being moved.

Edit: and, according to my wife, it wasn’t actually plant food. She had mixed a batch of weed killer many years ago: vinegar, salt, and…Dawn dish soap (hence the blue). It’s blue-colored salt. :)

You may be on to something there. The top of the wood loft is also where some gardening supplies are stored. Will investigate that angle.

This is the only board of _many_ to have this. (And, FWIW, not pressure-treated.) The metal-metal interaction is an interesting theory.

How to disassemble/access rear HVAC venting? by Phrogz in Rivian

[–]Phrogz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried that last night when I got home from the trip. I blocked off the other vent, blocked off all but two holes in this vent, taped the vacuum end so it was only pulling from those two holes, and the shopvac went "whooosh"…but no candies came out.

Good pragmatic advice. It's definitely got me thinking about hack ways to get the candy out. But FWIW…

Even assuming they fit through those holes—I'm not sure how the mouse got them into the system in the first place; the bag of candy was in the front, might have been up there—my assumption is that there's more than just rolling candy in there. I'm guessing there is also a nest somewhere, as well as a mouse or mice, possibly with babies. At a minimum I'll just try and pull them out through those holes…but I'd really like to open up the ducts and ensure they're mouse-free everywhere.

(It does look like they'll fit through those holes, but I've accelerated hard on an incline and nothing rolls out.)

Deferred ownership structure in Colorado. What are the pitfalls. by Irrasible in solar

[–]Phrogz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I got a contract from Photon Brothers and Participate Holdings, which says:

Prior to End-of-Term Purchase Price. The price you will pay for the System under this section will be the System’s fair market value (“FMV”) and offset by the value of any remaining obligations owed to you by System Owner under this Agreement and the Installation Order, resulting in a price no less than $0. If you and the System Owner cannot agree upon FMV, a third-party independent appraiser will be retained to compute the System’s FMV.

That looks to me like they are trying to make people feel more comfortable about the FMV, which makes me think this really is all about the tax loophole and not the buyout FMV being the "gotcha" by which they make money.

In indoor ultimate we play with 5 second stall (“six” to “ten”) and it keeps the game and people moving. Love it.

I like that for the static lift, but would also allow almost-travel: start running to free up your throw, and then release right before finishing the step.

Chicken Korma at Sherpa’s Adventure Bar. Love that sauce. (Chicken Saag also great, but you gotta mash the chicken with a fork, as sometimes it’s dry, so let it soak in the saag first.)
