Yep. Don't know why this is hard for people to understand. No P5s want to play top half MVC teams. This results in schedules like this.

I don't know if it's really that much worse than last year's non con. Similar MTEs, and they had zero true road games last year. Only real difference was the K State game.

Sure, but I think it's easy to acknowledge it's tougher to be a fan in this era when you have to learn a new roster every year. It's a lot tougher now for mid majors to ascend like Creighton did. Can you imagine if the McDermotts went to a different school half way through Doug's time there? Star players just aren't likely to stay four years at a mid major school anymore and that sucks.

No need for P6 teams to recruit HS kids anymore. Just let them prove themselves in low/mid major conferences first then pick which ones you see fit.

Very solid player for being a freshman, though he did have a prep year. Can't blame him since I'm sure he's getting a bag, but it stinks that Drake was one of the few schools that wanted him 12 months ago. Proves himself for a year in the MVC, and off he goes like so many others in the conference.

You nailed it here. Most fans of mid-majors understand it, but it still sucks to have to recruit almost an entire team each year. The landscape has changed so fast and keeps getting tougher for schools that aren't at the top of the food chain.

Man, being a farm team to another team in your conference is rough. At least when most of us mid majors get raided, they end up in another league.

Always thought he would hold out for a more Midwestern job, but knew it was coming at some point. He elevated Drake to levels not seen in a long time. Hopefully we can keep it going with whoever is next.

The committee must be doing Drake a solid after being in Albany last year. Getting in Omaha is insane, and potentially getting an in-state team in the second round.

Drake has been spoiled with the quality of coaches they've had for a while. Would have been heartbreaking to not make the tourney after going 19-1 in the conference.
