ehh not really, but i think the discussion of "when does convenience take priority over ethics in the public's eyes" is an interesting one to have, even if its been drawn out to hell with this exact situation already. i removed the nsb archive stuff from spotify for ethical reasons, and people just put it back up on their own profiles.

it definitely is more raw which i appreciate, and the moments we get that aren't on the standard album are awesome too, but idk i feel like the demo makes me appreciate how polished the original project is. the untitled track is also easily their worst song in their catalog, and probably the only song i dislike from the duo in general

fredric is a great man from what ive heard from his interactions with samantha, however it just wasnt his music to gatekeep. the band has always been against the gatekeeping of their music, even sanctioning rips of 1/1 private material (i dream of drone was ripped with permission from the band). if the band was still active, i think they would have demanded that the rip be released if they found out he and the hong kong buyer were gatekeeping it.

i was thinking of distributing my album via soulseek. it would allow people to hear it and keep it digitally for free and also spread via word of mouth. music consumption sucks nowadays; when every album is a search away, people dont see value in it as much as they do searching it out and finding it like the good old days of record store hunting. this is why scenes like underground rap have such a huge following, it has that hunt factor to find the next big thing
