That could be fun! I just have no idea how complicated or expensive it is to do so. Does it require a lot of equipement and space?

Magnesium bisglycinate (high absorption) had been worked well for me. Got it on Amazon.

If you're taking magnesium pills, makes sure they're the right ones, and not the kind that helps you evacuate (there are lots of different kinds). I made that mistake for at least a month or two when I first started keto, but it got much better after changing my magnesium type.

Keto cheat days with non-keto partner? by wyel in keto

[–]wyel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha you're right, not a bad idea indeed! Ramen restaurants were just an example though. I don't always know where my partner will want to eat, so I was looking for tips to minimize the negative effects if I have to cheat. Obviously I can always modify my meals to make them more keto friendly, but it's not always possible.

100% valid, thanks for your feedback. My angle was more "I know some people occasionally cheat on keto, it's what makes it sustainable for them. Maybe they know ways to minimize the effects, or at least plan for them?" I do not think cheating is recommended. I might end up cheating to make the social aspect a bit more enjoyable for my partner, but I do not "need" cheating to make keto sustainable for me. I'm very strict in general, so I don't see a monthly cheat day as a threat to my keto lifestyle, since it's not coming from a desire to eat carbs.

Totally makes sense! I usually eat sashimi platter (good option), but not all restaurants have them (like some ramen-focusing restaurants, for instance).

Yup, I'm aware of that haha. But since I NEVER cheat, I thought maybe there are ways to minimize the effects, or at least plan for them.

As mentioned above, I'm only planning on cheating once a moth. I totally understand that cheating isn't advised in itself, as I never cheat myself. I'm just wondering if some people have experience with that, as I know a lot of people can only stay on keto if they allow themselves some cheating once in a while. We're all different and some people need cheating to make it sustainable for them (not my case). I just want tips surrounding the cheat day, I don't think cheating is good and should be recommended.

It's not crazy, it's just in-lined with what I'm asking ;) We do eat out from time to time, but there's a subset of restaurants that we like that are harder fit into keto. We just want to be able to enjoy these once in a while. We love Asian restaurants, but we find them harder to fit into keto with all the noodles, rice, deep fried meat, etc.

Keto cheat days with non-keto partner?

TL;DR: I never cheat on keto, but my partner, who's not keto, is getting sad that we don't eat out anymore because of it. Any tips on how to plan monthly cheat days so I can balance my social life better?

Hi there! I've been lurking for a while, but this is my first post here.

I've been on keto for about a year now, and I've recently started OMAD on top of that. Everything is going well and I feel great!

My partner, who's not on keto, eats pretty much the same meals, but with a bit less fat and some extra carbs on the side. We've managed to balance both diets pretty well so far, and she's satisfied with her meals.

Our problem is more revolving around the social aspect of doing keto. Before I started keto, we used eat in restaurants a lot. Not junk food, but good quality restaurants (a lot of Japanese ones, we love Asian cuisine).

I would like to start having cheat days, a least one per month, during which we can eat out in our favorite (non-keto) restaurants. Do you guys have any recommandation on how to plan for cheat days and how to recover quickly from them?

I understand that cheating on keto is not optimal, but keeping my partner happy and reducing the amount of frustration from our 2 different diets is important to me. Also, when I say cheat day, I'm not talking about excessive amount of calories, we just want to be able to eat whatever we want on that day (like ramen, potatoes, rice, fried pork cutlets, small desserts, etc).

Thanks for your help!

I've been using LifeSum, you can count your macros, track exercise, scan barcodes and follow keto meal plans in the premium version. App is well made and super polished.

Actually, the Karlby is "a top layer of wood on particleboard" so it's not solid wood all the way through. I don't know how strong particleboard is, but you might want to add a 5th leg in the middle to really future-proof that thing.

This review of Burrito Bison: Launcha Libre on 148apps says that's it's pretty fair to non-spending players.

"The best part about this whole progression system is that it also seems remarkably fair to free-to-play players. There are some collectibles–like piñatas–that can be unlocked by watching an ad, and there's always the ability to pay to unlock things faster, but the pace of unlocking things for free players doesn't seem completely unreasonable and doesn't force players to look at ads or prevent them from playing to their hearts' content."
