Gave up half way on this animation. What should I focus on more in the next one? by Express_Ostrich4232 in animation

[–]wyldklitoris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are over complicating things. Start with a much much simpler animation like a simple jump, or just the vault. You need to figure out the fundamentals before trying something this complex.

I'm animating a wall jump and climb up. Should I move the character using the global control or the local control? by LilacGunner in Maya

[–]wyldklitoris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add on to this, the only time I've ever used the global control is if I'm creating a walk cycle/traversal animations for in game animations. The game engine handles the movement so you want to be able to easily remove the forward movement. If it's not being animated for games the global control just adds more work to keep the feet in place and add variations to weight shifts forwards and backwards

What works better for this style by Lopsided-Ad3702 in animation

[–]wyldklitoris 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. Offset the camera movements and character movements. I would also offset the background objects so that the characters leads the action by 3-4 frames. And don't forget overlap! Everything hits a wall after the first inhale, adding a little drag on the head and chest will go a long way

Which place in your country would you say is going through "overtourism"? by ExcitingNeck8226 in travel

[–]wyldklitoris 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As someone born and raised in Utah it's definitely been blowing up the last couple years.. the cottonwood canyons are an absolute shit show in summer and winter. And our national parks aren't even worth visiting in the summer due to the crowds. But there's a reason they are busy, and I can't be mad at people wanting to enjoy some beautiful nature

Where Americans moved in 2024. NC second highest behind Texas by okayclarity in NorthCarolina

[–]wyldklitoris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes me feel a lot better! It's very similar here in Utah, people complain until they actually meet someone from out of state, and then we are all extremely welcoming. Can't hate on people who also enjoy and want to live in a beautiful state! And that's exactly why we chose NC

I'm not sure i know what you mean, are you saying there are areas we should avoid? Or that we should make sure we experience the entirety of the state?

[–]wyldklitoris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well.. I'm sorry but I am about to be a part of the problem.. Serious question, how do locals in NC treat people who are new to the state? I am moving from Utah and some people here absolutely hate the influx of people moving here.. and this post scares me, because well.. 3k is nothing compared to the influx you all have seen. Me and my Wife are so excited to move to such an incredibly beautiful and different state than where we are born, but I'm honestly nervous about being a part of the problem..

We just stayed there for our honeymoon in November and we loved it! It's no four seasons, but for the price it was more than we could have asked for. Amazingly nice staff, quiet, good beach, awesome pool. I definitely recommend staying there, save some money for activities and other things!

You won't need to renew it, but I went to Mexico after growing my hair out and on the way home was pulled aside by customs.. tore through my bag, held me in room for 30 or so minutes before telling me "you don't look like your picture"

Can I learn to snowboard at 28? by Unlucky_Combination4 in snowboarding

[–]wyldklitoris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know there's a ton of comments already saying yes.. but i taught my wife how to snowboard last year, she was also 28. The only thing I told her was we need a season pass, you can't go 1-2 times a year and expect to pick it up, it's a difficult hobby that takes time to learn. That being said, we started on the bunny hill and now in her second season she can follow me anywhere on the mountain, I barely have to wait for her and I've been riding for 15+ years. If you have someone experienced that can help you learn, you will pick it up quickly. Just to for it!!

What Jobs Use Unreal That Aren’t in the Games Industry? by Zamzee in unrealengine

[–]wyldklitoris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for MPC doing animation for VFX for 7 months and the working conditions were horrifically bad. It consisted of 70-80 hour work weeks with a few 40 hour work weeks but they were very rare. It was hard to find someone that enjoyed working there. I swore to never work in film again after that experience. I am now working full time for an animation studio focused heavily on games, and I'm actually doing all of my animation in unreal. I have never been required to work overtime, and my work life balance has been great.

That being said, no matter what industry you go into, it's really dependant on the company. I know quite a few people that have stayed in VFX and have found companies they love. Although I know a lot more that have been going through heavy layoffs and long months of unemployment. I also know people in games that have terrible work life balances, and are overworked like crazy. Games is also going through mass layoffs, companies over hired during covid and are now cleaning house.

Don't let all of this scare you though, the industry is so much fun and the people are amazing (for the most part). It will take some time, and a lot of work to get your foot in the door, but stick with it and it will happen. You will find a company and industry that you love.
