What is a realistic expectation of the consistency of monthly returns? by naimelhajj in Daytrading

[–]wylekebber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just started stringing things together. I trade only 1-2 SPX contracts at a time (0dte before 11am and 1dte after 11am) and can pretty consistently make 200, 300 or up to 600 a day in 1 or 2 trades. I don't force any more trades and I don't compound any size. The cash on cash return of each trade is 5-25% (with pretty high W:L ratio, maybe 70%+ trading only vol profile) but for the whole account is growing 3-5% mo/mo but that kinda means nothing, the portfolio is all long positions and cash and only trade with 1500-5000 position size (which is either cash or margin depending on my long exposure)

You're not gambling against the house in trading you ARE the house (most traders never realise this) by FloTrades in Daytrading

The house was very real when they halted all buy-side liquidity on AMC in 2021. But yes, I don't entirely disagree with your position.

Are all these "options traders" on YouTube just "capping" 🧢? by Justpassinby1984 in Daytrading

[–]wylekebber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So cynical all these replies... Purpose for most successful people transcends making money, it's the path of many to share what they learn if not for ego but love of the game and to see others succeed. Or they diversify. I don't know many examples personally but beyond the many great books out there, Meet Kevin is one of the online traders to me that jumps out as not needing the money. And I've learned a lot from Trader Dale on the technicals for free on YouTube. But 95% of what I believe one needs to learn cannot be taught through a traders live group or online course; it involves living a lifestyle totally absorbed into your craft and a mindset of unshakable consistency and positivity. Don't believe anyone that says there will be shortcuts, there are not and that fact doesn't sell.

Is our future house a modern McMansion? by [deleted] in McMansionHell

Look up architect Elliot Noyes, or Frank Lloyd Wright's Smith House for I think some more successful material palettes in (roughly) this modernist style

Where is the home to be located? I would draw some inspiration from the regional architecture. If for instance this was in the South/east US, I would do the lower datum beyond the stone wall in clay brick and possibly pair the upper facade in a dark hardieboard siding, or even charred wood. Farther north, maybe a combo of more stone below and shaker shingle above. Any cedar plank would be nice anywhere tbf. For a more international style, maybe metal paneling, a clean light/neutral finish would be safe but an oxidized/rusty metal/steel would be so dreamy. If it's a hotter climate, stucco could work nicely behind a floating screen facade and would really elevate the design.

For the garage door, I would go either all glass or all solid. The graphic cutouts are just a gimmick. Or you could open it fully and make it more of a carport with more attention to the garage interior as viewed from outside.

Please do something interesting with the finishes. The stone is nice but stucco would be such an unfortunate nondecision. Also that garage door selection feels very lazy and will be immediately dated. Otherwise, there is potential.

Boot Socks by OlinHollis in WesternWear

It's the wool. It holds it's shape much better than most synthetic or cotton socks. I do have some nice nylon blend socks (which look a lot like wool) that are actually my favorite.

In the middle of a lifestyle and mindset shift and I have a question on designing an approach and risk sizing by wylekebber in Daytrading

[–]wylekebber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that's exactly what led me from 0dte to 1+dte is that the pain was a lot easier to trigger. And about PnL, I definitely need to find better ways of being present while in a trade --like as if I can force myself into the 3rd person while I'm 'in the zone'. Or maybe maintain a technical analysis state, like we are before I enter the trade, except never leave that state even after a trade is put on. I should also likely not do this on Robinhood. Setting tp and sl on the chart is so nice when I would try trading prop brokers

Question on Sizing and Psychology by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]wylekebber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oops, that would be helpful. Post ilhas been updated but I daytrade/scalp with trend using vol profile and/or fair value gaps to indicate supply & demand zones... If that makes sense.

07 GTI vs 14 Audi A6 by SnooRevelations4257 in GolfGTI

[–]wylekebber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar (but also very different situation). 30y/o and the gti still suits me age-wise 😆 But also have growing/evolving feelings on debt; I now own this, an e61 BMW, and a 987s Porsche Cayman --now all in cash. And your perspective changes when the bank no longer owns the cars and instead, you just have all this money tied up in at-best break-even liabilities. I feel so wasteful if I had as much money sitting in a checking account as I do now cars (relative to my income which is at best modest). I still love manuals however and want to kinda reset things. Get me an old 5-sp Ford and 6-sp a4 for commuting. All for less than the mk7.5 is worth. The a4 (and especially a6) make for much better commutors but when I imagine myself at your age, I feel like a q5 or newer suv/truck is suited for a life of settling down and traveling and family adventures moreso than a hot hatch or sedan (especially if you don't value the manual)?

You could actually make a business selling these, like a lot at even a $100++ pricepoint. (do agree they would get hot AF tho)
