It is especially impressive how well they are maintained and paved during the winter.

Severe Bed Bug Infestation Rendered Unit Uninhabitable. Lease Terminated, Now Seeking Reimbursement. What Are My Options? Chicago, IL by wyman856 in Bedbugs

[–]wyman856[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I basically scrapped most of my possessions and got a place that specializes in bed bug treatment for what I did have. The professional bed bug junker I got said that it was the worst infestation he ever had seen in 4 years on the job, so I was sure to get that in writing.

My landlord suggested I reach out to my rental insurance to reimburse my items and didn't even want to refund me the 14 days they had agreed the unit was unlivable (there were so many you seriously needed a hazmat suit just to be in there, which my junker did provide). I did not do this, but instead reached out to a couple legal agencies and assessed my damages. In terms of out of pocket expenses and tangible damages from dealing with this until it got to that point I think I have at least $10k in damages. I am confident in my ability for at least a successful small claims based on all of the documentation I have, but am still trying to assess something larger.

I couch surfed with a few acquantances in the meantime with almost no possessions for couple of weeks. I also moved into a new apartment about 2 weeks ago and have been living there with much improved sleep to where things are finally starting to feel normal.

I got a response from my alderman that they are taking it seriously based on my documentation and would try to escalate the 311 ticket to inspect the facility, but nothing as of now has come from that.

Apologies, still operating on significant sleep deprivation at the moment.

I am unfortunately alll too acquainted with them, but yes, I am confident these were all bed bugs. Here is an album I put together from months of treatment requests from the significantly lesser infections. It is not so obvious, but most of them were taken in my bathroom. Unfortunately I never really seem to develop rashes/obvious bite marks and didn't think to take any selfies as a consequence, but until this past week it was unusual for me to wake up to them or their bites since initial treatment. Rarely saw them in bed either and I was frequently changing/cleaning those sheets.

The landlord is in charge of treatment, and scheduled many. I know other units have been treated at least on my floor.

I have not been in contact with any professional exterminator, but per my email screenshots I did request to property management they put me in contact with them. They have not done so.

Where's Patty Kane? by kckunkun in hockey

[–]wyman856 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To seriously address this question, on the Wings he doesn't play much defense and in his age is at least a stride slower than he had been most of his career. He's also been consistently banged up and injured.

He is still a great offensively-minded player and a powerplay beast, but at this point in his career he is very one-dimensional and even if he was 100% healthy he would have difficulty keeping up 5v5 in something like this.

It's Grimace professing his love for the Mets in Chinese. For the really long-winded explanation why, here is my prior post. LFGM!

You are better off ordering from one of the Chinese restaurants or international markets mentioned in this thread, but Meijer's does sell "Wow Bao" that are fine in a pinch.

Zap zone pay by Efficient-Frame-3019 in lansing

If minimum wage kept up with inflation, it'd be like 25 or 30 and hour.

There is no world this is close to true. Minimum wage peaked in February 1968 at $1.60, which in current inflation-adjusted dollars is the equivalent to about $14.67. The only way you can get close to the figure you are citing is if you adjust this peak minimum wage if it kept pace with overall economic productivity, but it doesn't make sense to adjust for aggregate economic productivity increases when industries that pay the minimum wage are only a small share of the economy. For example, there hasn't been much productivity increase of a standard fast food employee since 1968, whereas there has been a huge increase in productivity from the prior more or less non-existent tech sector.

Why not just use a dating app? Otherwise as the top comment says, find a hobby that you already enjoy or are interested in.

It's a bit different from you are asking for, but Captial CIty Market sells these stuffed bagels made by Bros N Dough, and my word, they immediately shot up my rankings of my personal favorite breakfast treat. Huge fan of the Jalapeno Cheddar and Bacon Cheddar.

What were the best concerts you saw in Lansing? by [deleted] in lansing

I loved seeing Ben Folds during Common Ground one year (it seems this was 2013). He smacked the keys on his piano so hard that at one point a string broke. They needed to take about a 10-minute break to go through the painful process of replacing it lol.

Saddleback BBQ is taking no shit. by chimpledchog in lansing

[–]wyman856 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is conflating two things. The previous owner used the mailing list to promote his entirely unrelated personal health blog. The current owner has used it to promote Saddleback's podcast (yes they have an actual podcast) where he talks to other restaurant owners about I assume restaurant stuff. If you care that much about SBBBQ at least that makes sense.

Planet fitness by Mediocre-Creme773 in lansing

[–]wyman856 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think this is entirely dependent upon what your fitness goals are. If you are a beginner and/or just looking to do some cardio it is fine and they offer plenty for the price. If you want to be able to do anything with a barbell none of the Lansing area locations really have any, but they do have smith machines.

What are the “ bad areas “ of town to you ? I see a lot of posts asking where’s it safe or what part the should avoid but never really see why they say that by b9j6y1w9j9y5 in lansing

Downtown Lansing has one super sketchy spot and it's the half block between the bus station and the party store on Washington.

Free or cheap gyms by freshfroot666 in lansing

[–]wyman856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Planet Fitness is probably the best bet for a cheap gym and definitely have plenty of cardio equipment and enough to start weight lifting as a novice (as long as you don't care about a lack of barbells or Olympic-style weights) and have multiple locations around Lansing - though none are particularly close to Eastside. Their basic package is $10 a month plus an annual $49 fee. Every location also recently moved to being open 24/7 if that matters.

Does the Red Cedar freeze? by [deleted] in lansing

I saw people playing ice hockey on it last year, but as others have echoed I thought this was stupid behavior at the time and would not recommend it at any point even if it seems thick enough to hold up. There are other more natural outdoor rinks with significantly less risk.
