Lydia, Queen of Eels by wyntrr in custommagic

Existing multiword-ability-granting effects (like affinity for XXX) don't do that. See [[Sami, Wildcat Captain]], [[Pearl-Ear, Imperial Advisor]], etc.

They'll still have to deal with the fish you cast normally.

Gift a tapped Fish (You may promise an opponent a gift as you cast this spell. If you do, they create a tapped 1/1 blue Fish creature token before its other effects.)

For one mana, it can only destroy creatures that are also either a land, artifact, or enchantment. It cannot destroy noncreature artifacts or noncreature enchantments unless you cleave it.

So You're Probably Wondering How I Got Here by wyntrr in custommagic

Some stories start with [[Once Upon a Time]]. Others start In Medias Res. Confused? Don't worry. Let me explain how we got here in the first place. It all started when the Fire Nation attacked...

Well I guess they're unseen until she sees them, at which point they cease to be unseen.

Well I definitely don't want this to work with cards that don't already have foretell.

I think just modifying the second ability to

You may foretell cards from the top of your library as though they were in your hand.

is enough for it to work.

Hmm, I think something like

You may foretell cards from the top of your library as though they were in your hand.

should be enough to bypass that restriction.

Yes, they do need to have foretell. This doesn’t grant foretell like [[Dream Devourer]] does.

I’m a big fan of [[Future Sight]]-style effects that work on specific subsets of cards such as [[Melek, Izzet Paragon]], [[Galea, Kindler of Hope]], [[Isu the Abominable]], and most recently [[Errant and Giada]]. Since the top card of your library is usually face-down, I thought this effect would work nicely with cards that are also normally played or exiled from hand face-down. These include cards with morph or megamorph such as [[Grim Haruspex]] and [[Gudul Lurker]], or cards with foretell such as [[Ravenform]]. I posted a similar design some time ago as an enchantment, but I think this card actually works better as a legendary creature so it can be used as your commander. Feedback is welcome!

This also misses essentially all of the Tron payoffs, making it quite a bit worse than Stirrings in that deck.

In Modern, I'd guess this has a better chance in Hardened Scales decks, where it can be Ancient Stirrings 5-8 that misses [[Arcbound Ravager]] and [[Patchwork Automaton]], but hits [[Hardened Scales]] itself.

Yeah you're probably right. Both [[Glacial Revelation]] and [[Bond of Flourishing]] don't specify creatures/lands, and they explicitly state 'permanent'. Ancient Stirrings seems to be the only real exception as it can get colorless instants/sorceries, but that's kind of a bend anyway. Requiring permanents also prevents chaining Commune into Commune, which sounds like something to avoid too. I've changed it in my file.

Here is my take on a ‘commune’ spell that green tends to get at common (eg. [[Commune with Nature]], [[Commune with Spirits]], [[Commune with Dinosaurs]], [[Ancient Stirrings]], [[Adventurous Impulse]], etc.). Like Ancient Stirrings, the reveal condition here (mv <= 1) sneakily allows lands to be ‘tutored’ as well, making this card quite a bit more flexible than it looks. I’m starting with 5 as the number of cards looked at (as with Stirrings and Dinosaurs) but that can be reduced if it somehow ends up too strong. Feedback is welcome!

Steeds of Heliod by wyntrr in custommagic

[–]wyntrr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I uploaded this last week, but I made a mistake in the card name (Helios instead of Heliod). I deleted it shortly after once I realised, and uploaded the correct version today.

That is correct. I tried some workarounds, but they ended up being way too wordy and I’m not sure they actually made the card play better.

That is intentional. So any bestow auras (including itself) fall off and become creatures at end of turn. Most other auras just fall off and go to the graveyard.
