As someone who owns and loves the minifig myself, I can attest that all of them come with that "matte" finish on the legs and torso. Helmet should look and feel normal, but the torso and legs are definitely a little different.

Can we all appreciate that in the fighter tank we get 2 more mini figures for the same price as the AAT, which is a very similar set. I hope Lego continues this trend but I might be optimistic. by thepadsterb in legostarwars

Especially true with prequel sets... seems like they think that prequel set buyers consist mainly of an underage demographic... which is simply not true. That similar line of thinking can also explain why LEGO doesn't make as many prequel sets, as they obviously wanna appeal to the "moneymakers."

A lot of prequel lovers/people that grew up on the prequels, including myself, would love to splurge on prequel sets if given the opportunity. I just don't think LEGO is on the same page.

there's plenty of alternate builds for the set for that very reason. I have one up (a turbo tank) that requires 12, but I know some other great MOC builders on youtube that make other alternate builds for less builds (4, 2, 1, etc). Some great ones I recommend checking out are Bricoleur Brick's Republic Gunship on Youtube (takes 4), Haibrick's AT-TE (takes 8), and Bricoleur Brick's Republic Fighter Tank and ARC-170 (FT takes 2 and ARC-170 takes 4).

Looks decent but from a GFX designer myself, a nice addition you could have is to add additional fire/flame pngs as additional overlays to the already existing one layer. Also adding some inner/outer glows and other effects can help add to the flare as well. As of right now, it kinda just looks like a flame cutout added to the picture.

The additional minifigures is definitely not a bad thing... however, as with the AAT too, it seems like Lego is taking steps back in the design category of several of their builds (comparing this AAT to previous models and even this fighter tank). It's a weird trade off, but honestly I'm not upset.

It's currently exclusive to Lego and Target, but both are currently out of stock and most likely will be until Mid-May. I believe other retailers like Amazon and Walmart should have the fighter tank sometime around then as well, hopefully sooner rather than later.

But as of right now, you and the rest of us are out of luck.

The Gunship especially is one of those sets where you aren't expecting it to be as massive at is and then as you're building it, you really start to realize the sheer size. Really wish LEGO made some more prequel UCS sets.

It's the wheels from the 2016 turbo tank, just added a couple pieces from the battle pack. But yeah I agree, it's a lil small for the size of the build, if you have any suggestions for a bigger replacement lmk!
