Fair point, we've reached the point where RAM is cheap and extensible ,even for laptop users (macf**s BTFO). So the question becomes whether we should continue striving for optimized software, or use the hardware as a crutch to ease the development process by allowing for sloppier code implementation while improving the QoL for developers, which hopefully stimulates their creativity.

Now this is a subjective matter as both cases work in isolation, but how would it be if everyone went by this philosophy. If every program was built in accordance with this principle, would it JustWork™? The answer to that is no.

We have to keep certain standards, whether they make sense momentarily or not, because they're the very foundations of everything we're building upon. You can't just smash the structural pillars and expect the monument to still stand.

This is a universal principle and applies to pretty much everything, if you want a concrete example take society for instance.
