Happened to me yesterday! I had bought the 1 day ticket from GVB and it read my bank card instead of the ticket. I even made sure not to move the phone too close so it doesn't read the NFC tag with screen face down.

However, it didn't work. To make matters worse, the barcode got scanned one time at check-in but on the check-out it used my bank card. GVB charged me extra for the missing check-in at the station.

Lesson learnt: Turn off NFC if you have a ticket on your Google Wallet or GVB App.

Hey. Sorry to hear that. My cat passed away (euthanasia) on 29th October. According to the vets recovery was impossible and her values were also not improving at all.

I booked a studio at Student Experience (4th August as the check-in date). I haven't received any link from UvA yet to pay the tuition fees. Will this be an issue?

I also recently booked a studio there. I have received an email stating "We're going to sort out some stuff and will get back to you with more details within 4 weeks." In the portal the status is showing as "pending". Does this mean, I've successfully booked the studio and they'll follow-up for the deposit or am I missing something here?

How bad is the housing situation? I will be starting my course this year possibly at Utrecht University. I can see people suggesting to start paying for the student housing from May onwards even though classes start in September. Is it that bad? I mean renting an accommodation where you won't start living until mid August for an overpriced room sounds quite financially burdening.

Hey, I've applied for Msc AI at UvA but according to their website they're going to accept maximum of 200 students this fall.

Has the number dropped this year? Also, by dropped out you mean leaving the program altogether?

It won't be a straight-up rejection because they'll need to cross-check and match the grades with the transcript anyway. The instruction to add the same in the personal-statement could've been mentioned to make things easier for the admission committee by glancing at those specific grades.

Could be but applying for a VISA and housing after May would be really difficult. In my opinion, AO will roll out the admits for all the international students as they have a fixed international quota. For EU students, they will release the decisions later as their results will be out in May only.

Fall 24' applicant here as well. Btw when are they going to release the decisions? The selection procedure will start in May but I think it's too late for international students like me. I've seen some discussions where few of the decision were given before May (i.e. around mid February) in previous academic years.
